Wow awesome stuff. Would you do the same process to repaint/strip existing painted figures? What if you just want to add color to an existing figure? Still gotta run in alcohol?

It's always good to clean off the surface of anything you are painting depending on the paint you are using a primer might be needed for the paint to stick. I used a paint specific to painting on vinyl that chemically adheres really well without primer but requires a robust clear coat.

@@WolfPits ah gotcha! What kind of paint would that be? Trying to acquire the proper tools. I have airbrush kits already for other things so I just want the right paint as well.

@@Hipbydesign any type of vinyl paint will work. I was using monster kolor but j don’t believe they are in business any more. V color is nice from what I hear

Why does everyone use monster kolor? Seriously, I'm trying to figure out how to paint something I've got and every video and article out there uses monster Kolor. Why? Isn't it just lacquer paint?
@WolfPits3 жыл бұрын
They’re an automotive paint with a line of products that work well together but you can really use any paint as long as you use a clear that will not react to vinyl, I have had great luck with water based clear coats on raw vinyl after I paint details

thanks for the video, though it was sad not seeing the most important parts of the paint job :(

Clean! What's a good alternative to Monstercolors?

I have not really had a chance to try anything else but I hear good things about V-color. I do use Tamiya color for some projects and I usually use a etch primer before paint for those projects

So I have been trying to find the Tamiya Tape online. Which kind is it exactly? Any links? The tape you use at 3:18.

What lazer did you use? I would love to design some figures!
@WolfPits4 жыл бұрын
It was a universal laser systems but you can definitely achieve the same effect for making spray masks with inexpensive plot cutters or desk top laser units. I just had access to this one at the time so I used it for the project

I’m planning on painting a kaiju vinyl as well. Would acrylic paints be good to use?
@WolfPits2 жыл бұрын
It can flake off but it does work as long as there is a primer. It will eat damaged over time if you can get a vinyl paint or cel vinyl paint it will work really well. It’s very flexible
