I have watched lots of other watercolor artists on KZbin but i keep coming back to your tutorials because you make great videos, you explain the steps well and you makeit look easy which inspires me to keep trying. If it looked difficult i wouldnt even have a go. However in saying you make it look easy mine never turn out looking as good as yours. Some times mine look like my 6 year old granddaughter painted them.

Thanks, Paul. I’ve always wanted to know how to do water droplets. I do have a request in future videos. I started painting in my 50’s having never done visual art before. I wouldn’t say I have the knack, but am good at learning via principles. It would help me, and perhaps other beginners, if in your narration you’d occasionally address why you’re making a specific choice, about color (cool vs warm) about light and shadow, or anything else for those of us who don’t have a naturally artistic eye. For instance, I wondered why you put the white gouache drops where you did. Thank you for all you and Margot do!

Glad it helped - the white gouache was but in exactly as most reference photos - just on the top where the light hits it.

I always take a spoon and flatten down the area after I lift off the masking, it will give you back your smooth surface.
