That is an amazing painting. That's a great technique where you used the bristles of the brush to tap in a lot of tiny shapes very quickly and easily. Another really bold way to make small little specks and spots like those is to flick the paint off the brush and make it spray off onto the canvas. Using a lot of medium in the paint is probably necessary to make that work, and you can flick the brush with a finger or palette knife. It's just a trick, but it can sometimes work like a charm for things like water sprays, stars in a sky, spots on a rock or wall, etc. It can be hard to control sometimes though. You probably already know about that technique but I just felt like mentioning it in case you might find it interesting. Keep up the amazing artwork. Take care.
@brennerfineart
@brennerfineart 3 жыл бұрын
Thank you :-))) Yes, I know this technique (but still thanks for letting me/us know about it) but I don`t use it because I don`t have enough control over the size of the spots and the direction they will be located. I mean, you can surely train and get a decent control but it will still be a lot of coincidence how the result will look like. Therefore I go the longer, harder but in my opinion more controlled way. But i am sure an artist who practices this technique can surely have amazing results.

Hopefully you appreciate the talent you have. I have always been extremely jealous of people who can do this kind of thing. It's extremely rare and must be very satisfying knowing that level of rarity exists within you.
@brennerfineart
@brennerfineart 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Mike, I am happy that I learned what makes me happy - and painting is definitely one of these things :-))) But - it`s more about the time you invest than raw talent...the talent helps you to learn quicker, but you need to invest the hours on the easel, no matter if you learn to paint easier than other people or not. Painting is a skill that (I belive at least) nearly anyone can develop if he or she is willing to invest the effort it takes - and that`s very often the problem, people give up too soon unfortunately...

Gorgeous painting sir. I did a quick search on the internet but only found that it's not the best idea to mix acrylic with oil. Why did you mix your paint with linseed oil at the beginning? Thanks
@brennerfineart
@brennerfineart Жыл бұрын
Thank you :-))) When you follow the principle of fat over lean you can use acrylics as an underpainting, let this layer dry completely and build up new layers of oil colour on top of this acrylic layer. Not problem at all. This safes time, acrylics are basically dry the moment you put them on. So you can continue to work on the painting the same day. So oils OVER acrylics - works fine. Acrylics over oil - don`t even think about it. I use linseed oil to extend the drying time...I like to toss and play around with the colour a long time and linseed oil added to oil colour will extend the drying time. On top - it`s not unhealty. Not like white spirit or turpentine that a lot of artists use to mix their oil colours with are HIGHLY cancerogen! Basically any medium that is based on mineral oil is cancerogen and it does not matter if you get it on your skin or inhale the fume of it while you paint, it is ALWAYS harmful for your body in the long run. Use only purified linseed oil and you avoid getting poisoned by this really unhealthy painting mediums. It works just as well. You need more patience as this layer of colour will take longer to dry. But for this reason I always try to have a couple of paintings in different stages that I work on. So you always have something to do this day while you wait for the other paintings to dry.
