When I do Tracks I like to first use the Standard Track color painted in Acrylic. Then when I go to weather I make up a oil wash of earth tones. Once my wash is on I brush in my pigments into the still damp wash. This helps fix them in place

Afternoon guys. One of my favourite videos I've seen so far. You mentioned cleaning up the camo due to some paint getting under the silly putty. What was the process for rectifying that please?
@scalewarmachines2 жыл бұрын
Re-apply the mask but in reverse and respray or just use a brush for smaller patches.

I'm starting my own Char B1 bis build and i had some questions about the cast marks you applied. Looking at historic photos the cast marks were highly variable, present on some tanks in some of the areas but not consistent throughout all vehicles. Did you use a reference for your cast marks or did you just wing it and apply a few random ones to the areas you did? If you used a reference can I ask which book would be best?
@scalewarmachines3 жыл бұрын
Its a while back now, I used references for the build mainly from Trackstory and Histoire et Collections book. For the casting marks they were spurious but based on the numbers and locations on photos I took of the two Char1B bis tanks at Saumur Tank Museum in France and the one in Bovington in the UK.

I recently used tamyia paints for the first time, they were all of (flat) xf , and they came out real glossy .any tips on what went wrong? thank you in advance for any advice
@scalewarmachines5 жыл бұрын
Strange did you mix thoroughly - which thinner were you using X20A? Or Lacquer? Lacquer will make them glossy.

Hello what do you use to fixe cloging with valleijo peint please ?
@scalewarmachines5 жыл бұрын
Vallejo airbrush thinner or airbrush cleaner is good. If stubborn use methylated spirits or a tough solvent liquid reamer.

@scalewarmachines5 жыл бұрын
Memory isn't quite what it was! Pretty sure it was a Panzerart upgrade but can't find any packaging or photos of the after market item, plus could find no trace of it on the Internet. Fairly certain it was that, but it's no longer made. Came with resin and replacement barrels.

@@scalewarmachines Thanx mate. I found on internet that Mr Modellbau from Germany has something similar, it looks like sweet set for sure, take a look and tell me what do you think. www.mrmodellbau.com/_shop/product_info.php?products_id=782&MODsid=425bc2795f2c45179f90f709df49fd5b By the way, I like French tanks so much, they had crazy design and your work and modeling skill is fantastic!

Yes looks similar, definitely not the one used in the video but very similar. Seems to have some different items, like an aerial base. That is is a good equivalent set though. Used MR Modelbau before, they make good sets.

Why is everybody always saying that tamiya kits are excelent when it needs so much improvement
@scalewarmachines5 жыл бұрын
The question of "need" is debatable on any model. In this case, the B1 Bis is a great kit out of the box absolutely. One of their best ever. The reason Tamiya kits are praised is because of the care and attention they pay to a well-engineered simple and enjoyable build experience - it is usually quick and uncomplicated. Now, as regards any detail improvements, that's up to the builder, only the builder knows what they think a model "needs". We would have been happy to build this more or less out of the box but can't resist resin accessories, metal tracks. etched brass etc. etc. It's an addiction, some might say an obsession. It's not healthy...but you ask a perfectly legitimate question.

@@scalewarmachines i'am building the dutch Fennek by Trumpeter right now and it is a very detailed kit on its own but i also have a very big voyager photo etch set with it. I am just like most other builders. But i kit doesn't need to be easy to build for me the more work i have on a kit the better. Saves a lot of money. I just work on a kit for close to a year and when its done i can look back at it knowing and seeing that it all was worth the effort.
@scalewarmachines5 жыл бұрын
That's true, sometimes a long complicated build is good fun. But Tamiya seems to specialise in easy builds, I'm guessing so they appeal to all ages and if you are a kid you then see a kit come together real quick. One complicated kit that was enjoyable from memory was the Dragon Flak 36/37 88mm, a work of art which you can see on our Facebook banner. The complete opposite of a Tamiya kit!
