I miss the whiteboard already :( you should totally do a segment on colour theory; using the purple as a base for the yellow is inspired, but some people (like me!) might not know "why" this works. Be nice to see how you handle Non metallic metals using this technique, when I saw the shields i thought (hoped) it was gonna be how to do NMM gold! Great content as always though. Thanks for all the hard work!

This was a really good video on what is possible with dry brushing. I loved the contrasts between the different shields and what you achieved with such a difficult colour to get right (well, for me anyway). I am curious how you would use contrast paint like Iyanden yellow. For a future video, I would love to see you paint a vehicle, such as a blood angel space marine repulsor, to see how you would blend the dry brushing with the different surfaces.

My Imperial Fists thank you 🙏 I have so many problems with Iyanden yellow. A stray stroke can lead to an instantly drying orange streak, and everything ends up blotchy. Ended up diluting with 3pts contrast medium to 1pt iyanden, then doing several coats. Now using airbrush - much faster 🙂

Another great tutorial. Could you possibly do a tutorial on how to properly use the D series brushes along with the dampening pad and texture palette? Maybe some people are having the same issues I'm having. For example, when I first used my D series brush, I used the dampening pad and tested it it without paint on my hand. It seemed more than damp; so I 'wet brushed' my hand 'til I couldn't really feel the moisture any more, loaded some paint and tested on the texture palette. There wasn't a lot of paint coming off - so I took it to my test model. When I started brushing, the paint was almost a wash consistency and even bubbled on the details! It was late - so I cleaned the brush (using the demo video on this channel) and tried again in the morning. This time, I only put a couple drops of water in the well of the dampening pad. Did the same process as above but then couldn't discern any real difference from the regular square tipped dry brush I'd used in the past, and the D series bristles started to splay out. So now I'm in a position where I don't really want to keep pushing the brush for fear of damaging it. The D series brushes are evidently amazing tools as demonstrated in these videos, so some pointers could help me - and hopefully many others - get up to speed :)

Thank you for the tutorial really useful tips to achieve an effective yellow. A little bug bare of mine is that all these types of tutorials paint the entire model, whereas I often want to paint just a section of the whole mini. Example looking to paint up the new Vampire Blood bowl team in a Batfkin style (yellow armour, red gauntlets, blue leathers and black cape) so the above video works perfectly for the armour, but worried it will go over the blue leather I have already laid down. Is there a particular set of steps for placing colour on a mini you would recommend?

Dumb question here: How would you approach this if it were something like a sash, which is relatively small, surrounded by other colors you really don’t want to get your yellows on, and may not have great access? Would you discard the dry brush for a more traditional brush/layering technique, but with a similar color progression as what you have shown?

@urifromukraine20744 жыл бұрын
how do you wash your brush after that?
@ArtisOpus4 жыл бұрын
Hey Uri! The biggest thing is to clean between colours, make sure you never put paint on 'dry' bristles, and don't leave them overnight. You should consistently clean/remove during the process of painting through using a dampening pad regularly (it helps paint exit, and encourages you to remove it, rather than adding!). Past this everything really is icing on the cake, and it does huge amounts to preserve life expectancy :) You can use our soap that comes with the brushes as well as s simple conditioner for full wash.
