Best paint video I've seen yet, but I've got two questions for a slightly different situation. I've got my block covered in wd40 to prevent rust, when I go to paint it, will the lacquer thinner or acetone be enough to strip it bare for paint? Also, my oil pan is very surface rusty, and I was thinking to sand it as well as possible, and then using rusty metal primer to cover it whole if sanding doesn't do the trick. Would I be able then spray epoxy primer over the rusty metal primer when spraying the engine as a whole assembly in preparation for house of color kandy paint?
@PetesGarage
@PetesGarage Жыл бұрын
Acetone would be best. I would spray that thing until it's bone dry. WD will absolutely prevent the paint from sticking. You can clean the rust with a decent rust converter like POR
@mateuszopalinski339
@mateuszopalinski339 Жыл бұрын
@@PetesGarage thank you, i wasn't sure if i needed anything more than acetone for fully removing WD-40. I'll go fully over it several times to be sure it's all gone. Would you recommend heating it up with a heat gun afterwards to draw out any moisture possibly left over? And I'll look into using POR.

@PetesGarage
@PetesGarage 3 жыл бұрын
I have used many engine stands. I prefer the ones with the crank to turn the engine. If you grease the rotating sleeve it makes it easier. Also, after you put the heads on you have to lower the center of gravity to make up for the heads.

Seeing if I can get my stolen motor back at least since both parents stolee both my vehicles now..... Then I can at least paint my 302HO & try and throw a 14lb of boost on it, maybe throw it in a little truck with the turbo. Cause the 205-215HP was plenty in the foxbody, now that I'm 27 a little more speed would have been fun, but w/e not a good area to have that much power in a small car anyway. Unless I did a full body conversion on it but that takes away from *the car*
