This is really good, every bit of it. One thing you might also consider is having it darker on top and lighter at the bottom, this would go far to conceal it using the eye's desire to look for shadows. Like the technique you demonstrated. Looking from top, pretty dark, looking from bottom, pretty light, and the graduation between the two.

Says "make sure your paint is a flat finish" while showing using Satin green.

The clear coat is a flat finish, which works quite well over satin. I do not recommend using gloss paint as I am not sure what the final product would look like even with a flat or matte clear coat applied afterwards. However, the satin with flat-clear afterwards works excellently.

@@allredwhiteandblue258 Aren't you worried about getting paint on the scope lenses!!?? Take painters tape wider than the lens sticky side up on the table, take the scope (off the rifle) shade end down on the tape and use an Exacto knife to cut the tape around the scope shade, and you have the lens protected (repeat for the eye piece end). THAT is my only procedural criticism of your process. (USAF Capt ret. 20th SOS, 27th Spl Ops Wing. 20 years.)

@@vintageguitarz1 In my experience it's only a problem if paint gets sprayed straight into the scope. I shoved those gloves down in there pretty far, and there's the full length of that sunshade also. Worked perfectly. The rear lens... that one I taped and trimmed with an x-acto knife just as you described. The best thing would be to put scope covers on there and paint over those!

How do you wash it in between colors like take a paper towel over it?

Thanks for the question! There is no need to wash the gun between coats. I did mention washing the avocado bag between coats, but that turned out to not be necessary either. Just wait until the previous coat is dry to the touch before starting with the next color. Hope this helps!

Is it safe to spray your barrel with paint? And should I use high temperature paint?

It is perfectly safe and no, high temperature paint isn't necessary. Just make sure the paint cures fully before letting the barrel get really hot.
