Add a quarter rulers are great. Dritz easy hem makes a good folding tool or a thin metal ruler. I find glue basting the pieces at the seam allowance keeps things in place. Brilliant idea on the needling of the pattern on the butcher paper. Once you train your brain to think in the obverse it is very therapeutic. Until that training it it can be very grit.

I just started the atomic star quilt. I am finding it super difficult to get it to join (the two halves of the star) and get pressed open and flat, due to so many seams. Any suggestions?

Remember to not line up perfectly. The weird angle requires that you sew with a 1/4” offset “dog ear”
