I had a decent paper trading (profits) run until recently. Placed a trade on a Friday right before the market closed, checked my account on Monday and was STUNNED, couldn't believe it!! It was -2024.99 Just trying to find out what actually happened. After watching this video i learn something new & that was I placing my trade as "Market" instead of "Limit." Wondering if that was the problem & something else i did wrong? Thanks!

Forgive me if you already know this, but: You also likely didn't place a stop loss. It's like putting a cap on the drain in a sink, so that your losses "stop" out at a safe price that doesn't wipe out your account. Say you enter at a dollar hoping it goes up to 1.10, after which you would close your trade. You set a stop loss (basically assuming some risk. As in "I'm comfortable losing, say, .20 on this trade".) So as soon as this hypothetical price dips to .80, your stop loss order automatically closes your position, thereby protecting your account from being drained.
