When you line up and position yourself on the first step - imagine that is 12 o'clock. Now imagine where 1 o'clock can be? So when you're at the first step in the beginning from your sitting position imagine you have a clock around you - so looking ahead it's 12 o'clock. Can you now see? Should your hazard lights be used or just single indicator be shown? I've had a few road rage incidents from impatient drivers whilst parallel parking where I live. Just to note, I use just my indicator.

No hazard light and No indicator when reversing and doing parallel parking. Your reverse light is your signal telling others what you are doing. If you also put indicator then you will confuse others with the reverse light and also the indicator. Reverse light means you are reversing, but also indicator people will get confuse whether you want to reverse or to stop on the side going forward. Hope this helps and wishing you all the best.
