How to parry: equip a boxing glove then spam l2 on your opponents attack. Then don't forget to equip your rings when going for the riposte

Why are you filming from the side? How isn't it totally obvious that a parry 4 looks exactly the same as a parry 6 from the side? And why are you filming from 20 feet away?

Yes, a first person perspective would be helpful, however if you fence just a little you know what they do anyways.

Can't criticize the success of high level fencers, but maybe not the best form for beginners to watch. No use of the back arm at all, which then reduces speed in the lunge, tends to expose the chest as the trunk will turn. Beginner should at least have an understanding good form with the back arm moving backward as the front leg moves forward. Of course most high level fencers don't use the back arm much and succeed in spite of it.

Doesn't it depend on the tradition you follow? They might not be following a school that throw the arm back.

@@matthewpham9525 no its a modern thing. Not necessarily bad. There are numerous older texts, but one of the best is The Fencer's Companion by Leon Bertrand which you can still find on Amazon. All of them emphasize use of the back arm. In modern Olympic style fencing, the emphasis on relaxation and speed have reduced the back arm action. If you look at some recent footage, use of the back arm still comes into play used as a counterbalance and frequently thrown back in the lung, just not held in the classical position throughout the match, which honestly is tiring too. But beginners should understand that an extra burst of power can come from the arm properly thrown back and can also bring one out of the lunge quicker when used as a counter balance, like a squirrel's tail.

wait how did the inside parry (the first one demonstrated) not land? it looked as if the momentum of the attacker stopped on a dime, and IF he continued forward it would have landed.
@lorenzomalvar2102 Жыл бұрын
Usually in a match the parry is much faster and stronger, so it would normally swat the blade away. However, for the demo, the fencers made it slower for the viewers to see.

I went to my first fencing lesson today. And I got a scratch on my chest. That is why I’m watching this. I don’t want to be hurt again.

get a chestplate and if you dont wanna get hurt then don't fence because it will hurt if your don't have enough protection
