Passing is arguably the most important skill in volleyball, but it's amazing how many people don't do it right! I still work on my passing angles and fundamentals daily, and I've been playing FOREVER!! :)

Looks like your left foot finishes forward when passing to the right and your right foot finishes forward when passing to the left. In receive receive, which foot would you start forward? Dominant or non dominant?

is it supposed to hurt when the ball makes contact with my arm? i just started today and any advice would be helpful!
@SarahPavanVolleyball4 жыл бұрын
If you are a beginner, your arms will definitely get red and hurt for a bit because you haven't had a chance to build up your muscles yet. If you continue to practice, you will get used to it and it won't hurt anymore.
@charitycoates5214 жыл бұрын
When I first started playing mine hurt in games and I got bruises and they turned red when I would receive the ball but after I got used to it and built up the strength to hit it without the ball hurting me but try to practice as much as you can so it won’t hurt or so you won’t hurt yourself in games or practice but good luck and good job

Thanks for the vid... I was hoping you could help.. Do you keep your eyes on the ball all the way until it connects with your arms? After you connect with the ball, do you keep your head down like a golf swing, or look to where you want to pass with the chin up?
@SarahPavanVolleyball3 жыл бұрын
That's a great question. You definitely want to see the ball into your arms, but the most important thing above all is to create the proper angle with your forearms. If your forearms are facing the place where you want to pass the ball, you don't have to watch it after the pass.

How are you suppose to aim, I hit it right but it goes not to the person who threw it?
@SarahPavanVolleyball3 жыл бұрын
Your pass will go in the direction that your forearms are facing (but you have to make sure it hits both arms!). At the moment your arms contact the ball, it is very important to make sure your forearms are directed exactly where you want the ball to go.

@SarahPavanVolleyball3 жыл бұрын
You want to make sure the ball is hitting your forearms because that surface is flat. The ball needs to hit both arms as well... if it hits only one arm, that will usually make the ball go sideways.

The ball goes behind me when I pass. How to correct this?
@SarahPavanVolleyball4 жыл бұрын
This probably has to do with your posture or your arm position. Make sure you are leaning forward, and that your forearms finish forward as well. If your forearms are pointing straight up or if you are swinging them up, the ball will go backwards.

@SarahPavanVolleyball2 жыл бұрын
That's ok. Your forearms don't have to touch. The important thing is that the platform that your forearms create is flat and is pointing in the direction where you want the ball to go.
@jayden77363 жыл бұрын
What if you have a lot of power? Whenever I try to receive I'm either not swinging or barely swinging my arms yet there is still a lot of power after it makes contact? I don't really think I'm tensing my muscles much either. Is there any way for me to help control it?
