How To Pass ANY Azure Certification in 2024 | Complete Guide

As 2023 winds to a close, you may want to consider 2024 to be the year that you get your first Cloud certification or add another certification to your resume.
And while Azure is not quite as popular as AWS, it’s right behind it and is used by many companies out there and will provide you many options in the job market.
In this video, I will give you a blueprint for passing ANY Azure certification in 2024. This includes an overview of the certification options, a short intro to the new open book policy, what courses I would recommend based on my experience with these tests, and a handful of tips for exam day and the days leading up to it.

Hey Travis, great video! I recently did the AZ-204 without much prep, but have been working with Azure for more than a year. Really resonate about the open book, I used it in the AZ-204 and finished the exam right on time. In the past, I usually finished 15-30 minutes before the time allotted. Just a tip to not get lost looking at documentation.

I did not know about the open book - that's awesome. I'm taking AZ-104 soon and feel like I understand the concepts fine but was worried about remembering stuff like Powershell commands, SKU offerings etc. This really takes that pressure off, and it makes sense because in the realy world no one needs to know all that off by heart

Yeah it was new to me prior to this video. Though if you are going to use the docs for a few things, be sure to know exactly where to find it as there won't be any added time to the exam. I finished with like 3 minutes left! I think you can remember most the powershell commands as there's a pattern to them. While I didn't have the open book option, I may use it for things like VM sizes, etc. Best of luck on taking it!

I agree with you 100%. Why do we have to memorize everything, and most of them we never used. Open-book tests usually slow you down. You actually need to study for your test. You only use open book for the one that you are not sure.

Open book is a great idea and might sound like a cheat code, but don't be fooled. You won't have much time to do research on the spot during the exam - you get 50-60+ complex, scenario based questions and some labs (+/- for each exam), but such volume simply eliminates any chance of you showing up unprepared and passing. I studied for 2 weeks for my AZ800, open book concept was already introduced and I had 0 time to search around for answers. Failed twice, studied more, then passed.

Market share indicators are a strange thing. To my way of thinking GCP absolutely wipes the floor with AWS and Azure in terms of ease of use, programmability and cost. It’s a very enjoyable cloud to work on with, I would say, a lower barrier to entry for new cloud developers. Well worth a try.

Hi Travis, great advices in the video. I want to share my opinion on the first advice, correlate learning with MS doc. It's great! I've been studying the certs with Examtopics, which is a great source, but I'm only remembering the answers and yet I don't understand the concepts of why I'm doing this. So I can actually pass the exams, but after that, I'd forget what are these services for or where can I find the relevant information. Maybe the next cert if I adopt your suggestion, I would have a better understanding!

Great video, I've sat a lot of MS exams. The open books learn policy is more like the real world, people need to be very careful when using this feature though as it might cost more time than it will give a benefit of, really good advice for how to use the function though. I would like MS to move more towards some full lab portions of the exams where you sit in a portal and actually configure things.

@@jpatt31 within your exam there will be an option to open MS learn and access the official MS docs site. This will allow you to look up the official documentation of any Microsoft product. I wouldn’t put too much value on it though, unless you know exactly what you’re looking for it might take up more of your exam time than it saves.

GCP is good for IAAS, PAAS, DevOps, and Data Engineering. Customer service is bad though. AWS has the most jobs and best for IAAS. Also, the Lamda functions have been amazing. Added bonus is the most MacBook friendly if that matters to you. Azure has the 2nd most jobs, 2nd best for Data engineering & AI, the most hybrid friendly, and Windows PC friendly. Since Windows laptops/desktops make up 92% of the world personal computing market, that is a large population that can benefit from Azure.

Unfortunately, Scott's courses are quite often obsolete. And too superficial. Thanks hor your advice Travis, especially about whizlabs. Preparing AI and DP exams, used examtopics, quite similar, free and less functional. Also if somebody wants to pass DP 203, I can recommend Ramesh Retnasamy courses, not for preparation particularly, but for getting experience in covered topics.

Look at every job advert - and everyone wants experience. But people new to the field face a dilemma - "you can't get the job without experience and you can't get the experience without the job"- so you are locked out (or so it seems). My advice is study, study, study and get as many certs as you can in the new field. My point is that when you are well certified - keep applying for jobs and someone will eventually** give you a chance. You might have to apply for a tonne of jobs to find that opportunity - but its there. Why - because being well certified shows persistence, hard work and a no quit attitude. And in the interview - you will be able to talk through all the technology etc with confidence. ** - "Life's battles are not always won, by the stronger or faster man, for sooner or later the man who wins, is the man who thinks he can 🙂" Good Luck !

Another point about remembering documentation is that documentation changes all of the time. Whatever you have committed to memory this year may be completely obsolete next year. Tests that center around memorization are bad tests.
