I've literally have 4 weeks left of LPN school. I'm not trying to discourage but encourage anyone who's reading this. I started January 6, 2016 it started off fast paced, intense, and tough. In the summer of 2016, I failed adult Med Serge. While taking Mental and Maternal with clinical and theory. I was very discourage. I don't know if all schools apply, but I had only one attempt to fail, no other options. With God and an awesome support system, I didn't give up I continued into fall semester passing with B in Med Serge. I say that because it was a breeze all of the material was clear and comprehending. January 2017 I started my Spring semester. During spring break I've been keeping myself ahead of the game. Rewinding back a little I completed my clinicals a month early by sacrificing to do 24 hours a week instead of 12 by asking my clinical instructor to do this. (it's good to communicate with your teachers and clinical instructor). I literally have 4 weeks left of school reality is setting in and I'm leaning and depending on God to get me through this. Phillipians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. This is my motto. Nursing school is not easy but stay focused, dodge negativity, and surround yourself with others in positivity. You will make friends and it's good to. You all will need each other (trust me). I'm praying for all of you. Step out on faith. I pray God give you favor with whoever you encounter with on this journey. You will pass, you will succeed, you will become a nurse!

I started two weeks ago, and let me tell you the amount of information they throw at you the first two weeks is crazy!!!!!! But you are so right about keeping up on the material!! Read, Read and Reread your notes the vocab and the chapters assigned to you!! I also have a recorder to record the lectures and that is a God send!!! Your videos rock and every time I have some free time Im checking up to see some more of your tips!!! You rock and thanks for giving your advice!!!!

+Danielle Fisher Haha I know, those first 2 weeks are INSANE! And if my program allowed me to record the lectures, I would most definitely do it! It's definitely a good thing to do, especially if there was something that you don't quite understand when you're studying, you can always refer back to it. But thank you very much and I'm glad that these videos and tips are helpful! :D GRACIAS!!

Thank God I found your channel! I am a first semester Nursing student and already I feel like a rug as been swept from beneath me. Talk about my equilibrium being shift. I thought I was special with a 90 on exam 1, then of of nowhere I got a 70% on exam 2. I went hard on exam 2 yet I could not deliver! May the lord have mercy on me! Nursing school is indeed a beast.

hey man. just discovered your videos. I'm currently in lpn school. I'm about three weeks in and I feel I'm handling the school work fine. in fact I really enjoy the challenge of all the brand new information I'm getting crammed into my brain every day. however, I'm about to start clinicals in a week and I'm scared to death. I'm the only one in the entire class without in the field experience(almost everyone is a cna or has worked in long term care). I went in to this program kind of blind not thinking clinicals would be a huge part of it or start so soon. I'm so ready to work hard but what's killing me is the uncertainty of knowing what I'm going to be expected to do and the real possibility of doing harm to someone. I don't really have anyone around me giving me any support emotionally and it's weighing on me as the clinicals draw closer and closer. any word of advice you can give me? I'm really glad I found your videos. I've started getting in that mindset of complacency and it's a horrible habit i have to kick. I've maintained a 90ish average in every class but this stuff is super challenging and i need to treat it as such. keep making these man cause they really do help people who are struggling like me
@NurseBass9 жыл бұрын
+Jarrod Pairgin Well first of all, thank you very much for taking the time to leave this comment also for the kind word. I'm definitely going to keep making these videos for you guys, no doubt. Clinicals are a very big component of LPN/RN school, and I understand it can be pretty scary for sure. I was in the same boat when I began Nursing School. I have never held a job in healthcare and had zero experience at all going into it. It's just a process that you have to go through. It's very awkward interacting with sick people, especially in the role of the professional caregiver. It really helps if you have kind instructors and Nurses that you can work with. I had an overwhelming fear of entering a patient's room and interacting with them (I sort of still do). It's a natural thing though whenever we have NEVER done it before. Like all things though, it just takes practice and repetition. I would suggest to get a little, almost 'rehearsed' thing of what you say when you enter a patient's room. Something to create a little small talk, put the patient at ease and immediately develop that trusting Nurse/Patient relationship. The more times that you go in patient's rooms and repeat that 'rehearsed thing', the easier it will be to talk to patients and provide care for them. I would also remind you that, as frightened as you might be at Clinicals, the patient is even more scared because they're in the Hospital (or wherever your rotation is) and nobody wants to be there. So you can look at that as almost your advantage whenever you're interacting with them. Whenever most patients look at me, they don't realllllllllllllllllllllllllly see "just a little student with no experience". They don't even know that. That's just something that we do to ourselves when we let our minds get the best of us. Sure, they know we're students. But they also know that we have knowledge and with a professional attitude, we'll gain their respect and be able to establish that good Nurse/Patient relationship. I hope this helped!

Nurse Bass Yeah I received my syllabus online yesterday and I can already tell that this is going to be a hectic and life changing experience. I'm also starting a new job at a nursing home as a STNA and I did noticed that it is one of my clinical sights so I am a little bit relieved for that. I'm not going to be working much just two 12hour shifts on the weekend with an additional 8hour pay. They designed it for nursing school. Another great thing about this job is that they pay you extra if you are in nursing school, which is awesome. Thanks again.

Chelsie Brooks That actually sounds super awesome. That's incredible that they have geared their shifts and whatnot toward Nursing Students. Peyton Brunswick You're very welcome! Thank you for taking the time to drop by and leave a comment Peyton! I know you're super excited for your first day! It sounds like you have quite a bit of work on your hands to look forward to. The only thing that I can really say is to take great care in actually learning (not memorizing) the pathophysiologies. That is probably your most important thing. Learn and really retain that info. And constantly practice your health assessments and seize any opportunity to attend open lab and practice skills. It's all going to pay off; especially if your class is going to have mandatory skills check-offs! :)

Great advice, I most certainly agree. I am 5 weeks in and love it. My question for you is improving test grades. I have been getting Bs and would love to figure out a way to get an A. +angoli05 I actually did a video sort of related to this topic. You can find it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gIjEhauFfaacZ68 I hope that's helpful for you. Select All That Apply questions are definitely a tough thing to get adjusted to. The biggest piece of advice I have is: PRACTICE QUESTIONS! Do you recommend a specific type of Stethescope, reusable pen light and adult sphygomanometer?
@NurseBass8 жыл бұрын
In regards to pen light and BP cuff go, no I really don't. They're so generic and even the cheap ones are functional. I say whatever you can afford. As far as Stethoscopes are concerned, Littmann is always a great choice. They have a wonderful entry level stethoscope that is affordable called the Littmann Classic ll S.E. However, I recently acquired a stethoscope called the Eko Core made by Eko Devices. It's very pricey but it is the best stethoscope that I've ever used and it is perfect for me because my hearing is bad and it is electronic and can amplify the volume of what you're auscultating. If you're interested in that, I have a code for $50 off of your purchase if you use the code "NurseBass" at checkout. However, if you're just getting started in school, that Littmann is certainly sufficient. :D

They don't necessarily have the time to re-teach it unfortunately.

+Kay Dawson First of all, congratulations on almost being finished with your first semester of Nursing School! The light is at the end of the tunnel! I'm sorry that you had a bad day today. There will be plenty of those during your tenure at Nursing School, but the important thing is that you dust yourself off and get back up every time! It's sort of a good thing that your school is testing you on the computer in the manner that they are without allowing you to go back and revisit a previous question since that is how the NCLEX is geared. Perhaps this video of mine that I did in the past will help you out a little bit! I hope so! Good luck with the rest of the semester! Keep studying and grinding away and you'll make it! :D kzbin.info/www/bejne/gIjEhauFfaacZ68

The more of these "First Semester" videos I watch the more scared crapless I get!! ;) Nonetheless, thank you for the videos. Hope I can hang with the big dogs!! Eeek!

Jamie Zerbe Haha, nawwwwwwwwwwwwww don't be scared! It's all going to be alright. Once you get your feet wet on that first exam, you'll understand what is expected of you lol. But you'll be alright. Everybody is scared crapless haha. Just study, study, study and do your best! :D

I've already started doing nclex practice questions (there's an app for THAT! Lol!!) my biggest obsticle will be time management, as I have three kiddos who are very used to mommy always being around! I will definitely be watching your videos and taking all the advise I can get! Thanks again! 😀

A good workaround if you cannot write everything the teacher says is to record the lecture.

I will be going to lpn nursing but i need to know what do i need to pass the entrance exam?
@NurseBass9 жыл бұрын
+Cynthia Adams I'm actually not too familiar with LPN programs. Which entrance exam is it?
@Mssparklez859 жыл бұрын
+Cynthia Adams I didn't have to take a entrance exam for LPN, except for a Critical thinking test, which wasn't hard....
@Mssparklez859 жыл бұрын
+Cynthia Adams Well except you need to take ACT or SAT within the last three years. I hadn't taken it in the last three years, so I took at ACT Compas test...which is I guess a water down version of ACT....and it was pretty easy and I'm not the best with standardized test.

Is it possible to study books rite now that Im not in nursing school? like to pepare for it? Im going in until January but just need help on what kind of books You can recommend me to study rite now and get prepared for it .I live In Arizona and Im not sure if the books matter if there different to study.. Also , I have hard time sometimes but not all the time memorizing questions ... is that a problem? PLEASEE HELPPPP! thankss ! ❤
@NurseBass9 жыл бұрын
+Rosy salinas Yea, you can probably begin doing a little studying. I'm not exactly sure what to recommend to you though. I would say that you could perhaps buy an NCLEX book and maybe even just hop on Google and begin taking a bunch of practice exam question. Just to get yourself acquainted with Select All That Apply questions and get used to that. It's a very difficult thing to get used to, so you can begin getting ready for that!

Its my first semester 😂 and I'm feeling like i can't skip this
@cynthiaadams59309 жыл бұрын
Is it better to just skip going to lpn school and just go straight for RN ??
@NurseBass9 жыл бұрын
+Cynthia Adams I would say "yes", in my opinion. :D
@DenisGrigorov7 жыл бұрын
Depends what you want to do. LPN is less school but also offers limited career opportunities and lower pay when compared to RN.

Nurse Bass Ahhh. I see what you mean. I watched another video and she had it written out. I understand now. Lol. BTW, I am just a junior in high school but I need to start looking at what I need to know and get before I get there.
@NurseBass9 жыл бұрын
+Star Light Lol yea, I mentioned a drug guide. It isn't super necessary with these modern technological advances, but it definitely could come in handy.

if you're following the Lord Jesus Christ be careful not to be a lukewarm Christian, let your actions line up with His word, be careful with worldy and satanic symbolism, pray and ask the Lord for wisdom
