I have an Analyst interview in a few hours and this literally saved my life. The bonus question definitely explained really well how to calculate a revenue increase. If I went into an Excel test without seeing this, I’d freeze up because I wouldn’t have thought to type “1.07” instead of “.07”. Very well done and easy to understand! Thank you so much!!

Just one more thing, my test included stuff like: >Average values >Replace the words "Amber" to "Gold" in a category >Finding a hidden sheet tab >Sort category by color If I remember correctly it should be the 2016 version. I only managed to figure out a quarter of what's going on , it was so complex compared to my practice test 😓

Thank heavens you showed how to do a proper sort! To those below who think these basics are not asked, you clearly are paying for more advanced positions. This is a beginners tutorial. The worst mistake inexperienced users make is sorting a single column of data and having it not align anymore. The worst thing bosses do is not protect the sheets and then send a copy to each employee to protect data from the oops.

I was in the same situation a month ago: Going in for testing as office assistant in a few days. Without knowing what the test would cover, I was watching too many tutorials on Microsoft Office and it made my brain blow🤯Decided I couldn’t cram into my head years of knowledge I didn’t have over a weekend. I decided to relax for the test. I was okay until I saw the Excel screen drop down😳Trying to pull down different menus to figure out how to do the task doesn’t work; it counts as wrong after 3rd time. I finally stopped to relate the task to menu tabs and completed the rest of the Excel portion correctly. If I had watched an Excel tutorial like this, it would have helped more than anything else I tried to do to prepare. Btw I received a job offer👍

So what's the difference

@@nanasummerz9301 It is actually impossible to sort this from largest to smallest so in a way what he did was correct but what he should have shown is keeping the total values from the previous question then select the cells with the data, click the custom sort like he did then in the column drop down select the column you wish to sort by, in this case it would be column G (Total) then select smallest to largest or vice versa whatever the question asks of you. Hope this helps.

With all due fairness, the excel test can be much harder than this. Not really sure for which job this test would be for.But, if you have applied for analyst position, then rest assure they would test your knowledge of functions such as index/match, 3-d vlookups, rows, indirect...ect.

Great video with good tips. One advice for you: Consider making your videos shorter by not rambling about non-excel related subjects such as asking for likes, subs, etc. Also, transitions between questions are way too long. If you make your video strictly about content, your voice and personality alone is enough to add life to the video. Hence, you don't need to try to entertain. That's a free advice. You are more than welcome to follow it or not to follow it.

When I took the Excel exam I wasn't sure about one of the formulas, and then it occurred to me to look at the cell above it, the formula was in there already! I wonder if that was intentional.
