I also thought this would be critical care considering CPR and emergency intubation was done.
@codingwithhoang4 жыл бұрын
Hi Diane, 99291 and 99292 are time based codes which means that the physician has to document the total time that he or she spends exclusively for that patient only. Without the time component, we can not use these codes even the patient is in critical condition. As a result, you could only assign the ED level 5 (99285). It's compliance issue so be careful when you assign 99291 without the time component. I hope it helps.

Hi Hoang in case # 1 you said the initial visit is a first time patient but your answer ended to be an established patient. I don't quite understand. However, I want you to know that I am truly grateful for the way you explain your videos. I appreciate your time, thank you!

Hi Tammy. I just watched case # 1 and I see 99202 (answer C) that I picked is for a new patient so I don't know which code that you refer to for an established patient?
@tammyrolle43124 жыл бұрын
@@codingwithhoang 99202 is for established patient, however the scenario says initial office visit. I thought initial office visit would be a new patient. Can you explain please? I am not quite clear on the rationale.

Do you have other videos on E/M Coding? I'm struggling with guidelines for when ED turns into observation and all of that jazz.
