Great video, but I have taken and passed the CSETS, DON'T RELY SOLEY ON THE CLIFF NOTES STUDY GUIDE! %90 of the information wasn't on the test. Def use the Ctc prep materials. I spent hours and had that 450 page book in my brain and still felt unprepared. The CTC prep is much more concentrated and accurate. Don't give up, u only need 220 out of 300 pts. CA needs teachers!

Murphy Park thank you so much for watching! In my video I do state that the CTC practice tests really help - but the cliff notes study guide also really prepared me, personally! I suppose it depends how you use it :)
@PotatoJonson6 жыл бұрын
Maya Lee Totally! I just was emphasizing the importance of not only the ctc practice tests, but the prep materials from the ctc that you also touched on. Make this your bible, because a lot of the stuff they are laying out isn't in the cliff notes study guide, such as the important roles of christianity in Africa. I felt kinda dooped by the cliff notes book (countless hours studying) and still not efficiently prepared. But then I re-reviewed the ctc prep and it was all there.

How was the math?
@PotatoJonson6 жыл бұрын
SimplyBluain the math was different than I expected, I hardly used factoring, linear equations, or multiplying polynomials. Get strong on geometry and the equations for the different shapes, area of a triangle etc. I followed my CSET cliff notes study guide to a tee and taught myself all those tough disciplines and still felt like I wasn't prepared properly for what the test was. But yet I still passed, also helps if you can do well on the science half, you need a 220 between the two sections.

Hi Maya. Thank you for posting this. I was wondering if you could offer any tips to someone who is very weak in math, specifically geometry? Do you know exactly how difficult the subtest 2 (dealing with science and math) was? What they were looking for? I'm looking at the practice tests, and it definitely seems like something I need to study up on for a long while. I'm afraid that if I can't pass the math subtest, then I will be forced into pursuing English or Social Science teaching at the upper levels.
@mayaleex37 жыл бұрын
Hi! The math practice test was one of the first things I looked over, and I also met up with a friend of mine (who majored in math) to go over the practice problems with me (we did this once). Out of everything I've learned in math, Geometry was my LEAST favorite. I honestly struggled through it in high school, so if I got anything wrong on subtest ii, it probably came from Geometry haha. The good thing about math is that you can usually check your answers and for free response, they care more about what you know/your thought process. Science was difficult because there were so many things to remember. Def remember the different "cycles" (rock, frog, and water). I just drew them out from my memory at least 3x.

Thanks for making this video so we could have dialogue about the test in your comments section...I just paid $247 to take the 3 tests at once. Now I'm debating when to take it. I could either take it in 2 weeks (haven't studied yet) or in February (no tests available in my area in January). December 28 seems kind of soon to take it, but my district holds a job fair in January, and I think it would help if I had the CBEST passed by the time January comes around, rather than waiting till February to take the tests, even though it would give me a longer time to study. I'll sleep on it but I might opt for testing in 2 weeks and just grind it out studying.

@@jaydel3 it's passed the 5 week waiting period and still no test results.
