I call these "worm patches" and they work really well on simple punctures in the middle of the tire tread. You shouldn't patch a tire that's punctured on or near the sidewall. A Patch like this will help you get to your destination. It may even last the remaining life of the tire, but you should be careful and check the tire for blisters on the sidewall, uneven wear, or returning low pressure. These are all signs that your tire may fall quickly, including a blowout.
