Thank you so much for this. I have never seen a video on tummy adjustment so clearly explained. I can't wait to get started! I love wearing skirts, but have given up wearing them because of fitting issues. I eagerly look forward to the next mini series. Thank you for sharing your knowledge so clearly and concisely xxx

Fantastic. OK so my back hem was lower than my front hem because I need a swayback adjustment. Of course I do... I do that adjustment on every shift dress I make. It is so nice to have it shown to me so clearly. I thought the front hem was shorter because of my tummy. Back to the toile....😆

I've been sewing for about 8 months and the fit was close but definitely not right. After making the skirt block and adjusting for full tummy due to crease lines (which is something I have not done until now ) The fit is perfect, can't thank you enough and looking forward to the next episode. All we need now is a bodice block and I will be a very happy bunny indeed. Big thank you

AMAZING video..... i have always had bigger thighs in comparison to my hips and disproportionately small waist. Typical pear shape. I have never owned a single "pencil" skirt due to the fit being so wrong for me...... cant thank you enough for this vido 🎉

This has been so interesting and I can't wait to get my skirt to fit me properly. I have steered clear of fitted skirts because I have a more prominent tummy and I already have a larger waistline (thanks to the joy of aging!) trying to get a commercial pattern to fit has just been too challenging. So thank you for this.

This series is helping me so much. I have a question. The side seams on my skirt is not straight but tilting towards the back. Should I do a adjustment to the backs as the belly adjustment you showed here? Thank you.

Well explained, thank you. Could I use this adjustment for a large bottom even though the back patten has two darts?

I have a question for Izzy. Just made a dress. Bodice with waist seam not ultra fitted but skimming bode. Same for skirt the ruffle at hem. All good and fit looked good. Only issue was hem at back shorter than front. Dress not pulling and good amount of ease. So would this normally need full bottom adjustment and would this give more fabric where I didn’t apparently need it? Rather than remake the dress I adjusted the ruffle to compensate. It meant changing two pieces and tapering from back towards the front piece and leaving the third for the front. So I achieved visual balance but I’m curious. What would I have done if I were not making the version with the ruffle?

Thank you so much for this series. I’ve followed all the steps to make the basic block and it turned out really well. Something I’d love to know how to do (if it’s straightforward enough) is how to get my pattern into a the computer to print out like you have. Is it using graphic software (eg Inkscape) or something like that?
@MinervaDotCom Жыл бұрын
We're glad you’re enjoying the videos and great to hear you’ve had a successful block drawn up! That’s brilliant news. Yes, I use CAD software to draw up the block you see on the screen. There are many different software packages you can use to do this. Some are free and others require a licence fee. It’s worth doing bit of research to find out what will suit your needs.

I have a question. I’m fitting a skirt block where the waist and hip measurements and ease are perfect. However, the end points of the darts (particularly the front waist dart and the back dart closest to the side seam) stand away from the body and have a “poof” of excess fabric. I’m wondering how I would fix this. I know darts are used to three dimensionally shape flat fabric around curved parts of the body that need accommodation, but what if those parts of the body don’t have much curve at all? My dress form has a rather flat tummy. I’ve heard people say darts can be omitted entirely in certain circumstances when side seam shaping is enough to accommodate the curves of the body. My plan right now is to lessen the dart widths and (to a lesser extent) lengths, then bring in the side seam waist point (a dart in its own right) to add the shaping lost in the now smaller darts. Does that sound like sound logic?
