Awesome!!! To have your home paid off in 8 years is quite an accomplishment! That took some dedication in making some smart choices and being frugal but just look at the payoff for your choices! Having a home that is paid for is such a relief and such a burden lifted off of you! Well done!!!

Wow! Good for you! You are doing such a beautiful job of presenting an alternative to the life of debt most people just sort of figure they have to settle for because "it's normal."

This is good as long as you've saved a good chunk for your retirement along the way. I've taken a somewhat different approach in focusing on savings/investing while just making my mortgage payments smaller each time that I renew. At the current interest rates (meaning the past 10 years), I personally think it's better to not try to pay down your mortgage aggressively. In putting my money in investments instead of paying down my 2.5% mortgage I've saved at least an extra 100k. Good video and good food for thought to bring up.

This is what we are trying to do. Just chuck any extra at the house. Saving this for when I need inspiration.

That's so cool to have no mortgage payments. This way you can save more towards your next goal. I can't wait to get there too. Also, biweekly payment schedule isn't always compounded daily. I was looking to switch to biweekly, but then I read the fine print, and it said that the payments will sit there until it's enough for a month's payment, and after you make all the payments for the year, all the next biweekly payments will go towards the principal. So, I figured, we are better off just paying extra with every payment.

When you make that extra payment make sure to pay on principal only.

Did you save money for your second house by investing or just putting it in the bank?

I refinanced once already. I had a 30 year mortgage at 5.87%. Then I refinanced to I believe a 20 or 22 year mortgage I'm going to have to check on that and 3.85%. With what you're saying about this I'm wondering if I should refinance again try to get a lower interest rate because you said you're paying 2.85% and make it a 15 year mortgage but pay it off early. What do you think about that?

First of all, you look about 16, not 28 or more. Second, how did you get so smart, so young? I unfortunately, didn't get into this kind of mindset until I was much older.
