$34,289 to go! I paid off my car loan and credit card this year and now I am solely focused on my student loans. Hoping to have them paid off in 3-5 years! Thank you so much for really sparking that motivation to clear the giant cloud of debt above my head! I am looking forward to that next paycheck to make those loan payments!

I was super motivated to pay off my student loans in the beginning so I went full on agressive with my payments early on. However, once I reached a huge milestone like paying off a huge loan I started to ease up a bit. But now I motivated again and after watching this video I put a $100 extra into my student loans!

I also paid off $300,000+ in full 100% after i completed 3 of my degrees. i personally don't like to pay more than minimum payments, unless it's super high interest rate. i would consider the opportunity cost and use it to invest and generate more. so i actually use the money to invest instead of paying the loans, then i ended up tripling my investment, so i paid off my student loans fast that way. i just posted a video about how i paid off $300,000 on my channel. please check it out and let me know what you think too 😃

I and my husband were in debts for three years until I came across this dude on KZbin and I explained my predicament to him, he then introduced me to an hacker that grant loans and does bank hack, PayPal hack, ,credit score fix, bank account, phone hack(cheating husband or wife) western union hack, cash app top up, credit card top up hack, NFCU referral/sponsorship, loan approval, Instagram verification, Facebook and many more. After the hacker went through my information, my debt of $30k was cleared by him. One time, in the early 80s, we had a car loan because we need to utilize as much cash as possible for several ongoing projects. Other that that, I can never remember a time we had debt. "Debt is bad" gets into you head when you grow up in the home of Grandparents who lived the great depression and then rationing in WW2. You can afford it when you have the cash to pay for it was the family mantra! I also like the budget-layaway plan. Put something down, keep paying and don't BUDGE IT til it is paid for. It worked for me but what do I know, I am old but always debt free.

Debt Avalanche crew checking in. Great video rose! I don't have a debt free date. I just want to pay off any loans with interest rates greater than 4% by 2022. Once I get the higher interest rate loans paid off, I plan to max my retirement accounts. Then any extra money left over after that will go towards my low interest rate loans =D.

Went to State university back early 1990s. Cost back then, instate, was $500/semester unlimited classes. Paid for it delivering pizza and programming on weekends. My parents went to State college, costs were back then were negligible. I feel so bad to today's younger generation having decades of debt just to get something as basic as an education.

I paid off 74k worth of student loan (and car) debt within 3-4 years. Lived in a tiny studio apartment (with cock roaches) in Queens while throwing hundreds @ my debt each week. It was hell. I thought about my debt every. single. day. It was 100% worth it to pay it off.. It felt so liberating to be debt free.. If I'm lucky enough to have kids in the future I'll never let them get into the kind of situation I was in. I'll definitely save & pay for their college eduction. Your video was really good and I sent it to a view people that will hopefully take your tips into consideration but the head in the sand approach is all too common. I know because I was there at one point in my life. It suckkkkkks to face reality.

I hate that you had to sacrifice quality of living to pay off your debt of basic necessities, really --A college degree and a car. I lived in low income apartments as a kid in the same situation and I still have nightmares about it. I'm glad it's worth it for you but I've decided that I'll pay an extra 3 years if I can be happy where I'm living. Especially when the world is in isolation during the pandemic and my living space is all I really see.

Excellent idea that is to write down your debt and then update it as you make progress. This worked well for my wife and me. First for paying off our mortgage and then for losing weight.

Rose, do you have to actually tell the lender to place the extra 100 towards principal, or is the extra automatically placed towards principal.

Soon after I got done with college, I consolidate my loan at 2.75%. It's been 15+ years, and I still owe about $5k (start at $20k), can't wait until the day I pay off this debt (but I am not in a hurry either, cause interest rate is technically lower than inflation + interest for school loan is tax deductible).

Now I’m debt free. you can reach him on WhatsApp +17204430671 or on Instagram @bank_hac (he doesn't take upfront) he is very fast and reliable...

I paid off 60k in 5 years. Thats 40k in student loans plus 20k in an auto loan when I bought a car after graduation. My auto loan was paid in 1.25 years before I deep dived into student loans. For perspective though... that 40k in student loans may not seem like a lot, but that was actually double STEM field majors at a respected university.... which I entered into AFTER already having my two year associates debt free. Paid for junior college out of pocket, and worked part time all the way to my late junior year.

Don't forget that debt also builds credit... Which really sucks. I do want to give another tip, I don't think I heard it, but when I was paying on my student loans, I would use my credit cards whenever I could on Internet, Mobile phone, insurance, etc. things that I needed to "survive" and I would take any of my cashback rewards once a year and pay down my student loans. I was also very strict about not spending outside my means. However, I thankfully have been free of my student loans when my parents and I bought a house together. They paid my loans off after they sold their old house, and we bought a house together. Now after refinancing a 30 year loan (5 yrs in) from roughly 200k, combining all our debt together (which theirs plus mine and my past student loan makes us even) now at 300k for 15yrs and we now plan to have it paid off in 9 years (extra 1k/month) and everyone still has extra money compared to prior to the refinance.I'm just glad that since they paid off my student debt with the sale of their old house, I can repay the favor by ensuring I help pay off the new house. Also some might think it was crazy of me to take the money towards my student loans but the mortgage interest rate (4%) was lower than my student loan interest rate (5% or higher). Only debt I really hate is 0% interest loans. I know it sounds odd, but I really hate how it looms over you. lol not much point in paying it off early.

Rose, I watched your 8 tips for budgeting and was wondering if we have student loans should we put paying off the debt before paying off ourselves? I want to put as much money as I can to my debt ($1,500-$2,000) a month but would that be irresponsible to not be putting as much money in a roth IRA, savings account, etc? My goal is to have the loans paid off within the next year and then I can increase the money I put in the other investments.

I'm a mature student (37 years old) in the UK; I didn't ask for a student loan and managed to pay everything while studying and working. I'm going to graduate in few months and I'm happy I don't have any debt, but at the same time I don't have much money left in the bank account and I'm not sure I did the right choice not asking for a loan. If I asked for a loan I could have much more money now and paying the debt gradually. What do you think?

I have less than 30k in student loan debt. I haven't started paying on it due to it being in forbearance but my goal is to pay it off in less than 5 years, like before 2025 is over. To be honest, I'd love to have it paid off by next year miraculously lol! It wasn't until last week that I changed my mindset about student loans. I believed that student loan debt is a socially acceptable debt that everyone just lives with but I don't want to live how everyone else lives. While there is a such thing as 'good' debt, I would rather be wealthy enough to pay for expenses in full or just skip it all together. Simple!

$73,000 in student loan debt. Minimum payment is $672 per month. GreatLakes said that if I pay that minimum of $672 per month I will be fully paid off by Nov 2050. That's insane. I can't pay that minimum a month and that's with IDR plan. I feel like it will never end. I barely make even half of my student loan debt per year. It's insane. No matter what I do, work I take on, etc I can't get above water.
