Would you consider paying your rent with your credit card to earn rewards points? Let me know!

What makes this better than the BILT credit card when it comes to paying rent?
@matthewjosiah29 күн бұрын
If you are American, BILT is a great option for paying rent, but I don’t think it works in Canada, so Chexy is what I use to do that and it’s been a great experience! I’m now using my AMEX Marriott Bonvoy card, so I earn 2X the points instead of 1.25X I earned with AMEX Business Platinum.

Good afternoon Matt, I sent your gr8ness email a message, but I'm not sure if it's still active. I just wanted to let you know that I think you have an amazing mentality - not just financially speaking, but in general! 😄 I just found your KZbin channel today when doing a little research on credit cards (I am trying to plan out the next few to get in the best possible order), but I already learned numerous things from just a few of your videos! I am shocked at the "paying your rent with a credit card" and some of your travel/hotel hacks! 😱 I initially found you through your Costco membership video, but I loved your content and watched more! Very glad I did haha 😝 I would love to talk more with you if possible: what you discuss is EXACTLY what I'm interested in! Most of my friends and family are not interested in and/or do not understand the benefits of financial planning, maximizing credit card benefits, real estate, and/or investing (stocks, as well as in one's health lol). I am relatively young, but always prioritized long-term goals. So I do not connect well with my peers who do not cultivate healthy/beneficial financial habits. For example, I am very interested in real estate and earning passive income through rent (I bought my first apartment unit with a roommate when I was 23 to ditch renting myself). I also purchased whole life insurance for myself around the same time, but investing in property, life insurance, and legacy planning overall are not common interests/conversations I can have with a lot of people (usually I talk to older people to understand lol) . . . 😅😔 So I REALLY appreciate those who realize the value in financial freedom and wealth-building. It's so interesting and practical for everyone! Please let me know if we can chat more, I'd love to hear your experiences and thoughts on a number of (other) things! At the very least, I hope you could share contacts and/or links to find others who think similarly as yourself/myself! I'd love to see videos on more topics (such as the things I mentioned above). 😛 The best way to contact me is to respond to my email or this comment I suppose, since these comments are public . . . 😅😬 I also admire that you respond to all the comments on your videos, so I'm hoping to hear back from you somehow! 😁 Mahalo (thank you) and please take care! Anonymous Love from Hawai'i! 😆😄🤓😎🤑🤩😁🌈🕶☀️🌊🤙🏖🏝💯

Wow, thank you so much for your comment! It’s probably the best one I’ve ever received on my channel! Haha It sounds like you are on a journey and doing lots of the right things to make it the best one possible and are really setting yourself up for success. This is awesome to see and more people need to be taking steps like you are to create security and financial freedom. You souls be really proud of yourself! I’ve been vacation so that is why I took awhile to reply to this comment, but I will get back to your email soon and look forward to talking more. Thank you again for watching and sharing your journey, you’re crushing it and keep it up! 🙌

Im considering this method but still thinking if it's worth it paying $252 cad for 14400 points? And what's the equivalent of that points to cad?
@matthewjosiah3 ай бұрын
Is the $252 for 14 400 points the total it would work out for the entire year? Or month? I think I know the answer, but I just want to make sure haha

I apologize for the late reply - I thought I got back to you and realized I hadn't - it can be hard to compare the values of AMEX points because the redemption value can change. Sometimes you book hotels with them and depending on location, time of year, etc. the value can be different and I've seen the same thing happen with flights. But, it's commonly accepted in the space to see the value of 1-2 cents per AMEX point in Canada when used for air travel or hotel redemption, although some people do much better than that when redeeming points and it boggles my mind haha The main thing I would look at in your case is the cost to buy the MR points directly from AMEX. The current rate is buying 100 points for $3, so at that rate 14 400 points would then cost you $432 total. Buying points is going to be more expensive than earning them more often than not unless there is an insane bonus that comes up. When I looked at making this decision for myself, I recognized that it made sense for me, but you've got to make that call for yourself because it might not be worth it to you.
