Thanks for sharing your methods , some people will criticize the way they are being locked, but you got to remember this isn’t a 9” Ford it’s a garden tractor transaxle.

andrew brinker yeah a lot of people have different opinions, although someone may not agree with the way ive been locking these transaxles, it also shows people how to properly disassemble and reassemble. So they can lock there axle what ever way they like, thanks for the support!

Is their any difference between a 2300 and 2350. I have a 2300 on a bolens thats shot, found a good 2350 from another bolens thats good, cheap.

This is perfect, surprised I hadn’t seen this video sooner. This will come in real handy when I ever get around to locking up mine! In the meantime I’ve been collecting all the 2300’s I can get because Peerless said they’re “obsolete” in an email reply.

Yep, just fozzy it. Exact same as an 820. You can even doc lock it like an 820
@redzz02
@redzz02 4 жыл бұрын
RichieRichOverdrive I figured you could doc lock it only difference I saw was the bull gear plates had notches machined in them for oil to enter the dif, ive never seen an 820 with them

Interesting to see the differences in Doug's and my 2300. Mine had cast iron hubs and a 3/4" keyed input and snap ring.
@redzz02
@redzz02 4 жыл бұрын
MightyRaze dougs original trans had cast iron hubs also. This trans didn’t go to this tractor, I was able to grind down the key ways and make the cast iron hubs work on this axle with no issues

Paulie Detmurds I hate buying gaskets lol, I could probably do one with in a couple hours, draining the oil and adding new oil is probably the most time consuming part of the process

How well do you think a 2300 would hold up if I give it more than 3600rpm input? Trying to see if I can use the 2300 for higher speeds, like a street cruiser or something...?

Is their any difference between the 2300 and 2350. If so what are the differences. Please let me know, if you happen to know. Looking to replace my busted 2300 for a 2350 I found cheap. Both were from Bolens. Thanks.
@redzz02
@redzz02 3 жыл бұрын
I honestly do not know, peerless does not list separate information for the 2350, my assumption would be that it’s just a variation of the 2300 model. You should be fine with swapping them but I do not know of any differences for sure

Why would anyone lock their ass end man? I mean unless your pulling straight ahead in competition just what is the point of doing it? I know after the ass end gets locked your tractor/automobile will in fact go in a tight line. Even at a crawl in mud/dirt/sand the unit will simply push straight ahead even when its front wheels are completely turned all the way then sure enough straight ahead your ass will go every time man..lol. Thats why we had to lean way over & basically lift a rear wheel off the ground an inch or two to turn the old Honda 3 Wheelers back in the day and its why the Gov ruled those vehicles so unsafe and forced Honda to stop selling them in the USA after all their deaths/injuries. Trust me' such a huge move was absolutely unheard of back in the day because nobody ever cared what the hell anyone rode or done for that matter back then!! They just didn't care, hell it was Evel Knievel days man...lol. In a car this can actually push the front ball joints right out, on a tractor/truck with a cast iron straight axle the tie rod ends generally are snapped so honestly whats the point unless its for straight ahead drag/mud racing or pulling so' "Why" do this? I once bought my wife a 68 Dodge GTS 340 several yrs ago that just had its Dana Sure Grip {limited slip} rear end rebuilt but they over tightened its clutch pack & it failed to release like it should do when you turn the car slow. I remember it just squealed loud as hell when the tires slid every time we turned at each intersection. Then on the 3rd day it pushed the drivers side ball joint right out but' luckily it didn't hurt anyone or anything but damn it sure blew the wife's mind, she was driving it..lol I had assumed it'd be fine till the weekend rolled around when I had time to pull the center section out and back it off enough so it released, we really got lucky as hell because it could have very easily killed somebody.
