Excellent video. Incredibly easy to understand and follow. Test prints and multiple powerful cleanings, nothing was printing. Super worried the printheads dried to a crisp. Followed the soaking process exactly as shown with Roland cleaning solution for 2 hr soak. Recovered like 98% of the nozzles. Amazing stuff. Saved hundreds in tech visits.

The magenta in my bn20 was not printing a wide band in the center and on each side in other words only 25 percent. I bought the printer from a lady who originally bought it from Stahls and I was not aware it should be left plugged in and turned on at all times. The rest of the magenta was totally blank however all the other colors were perfect. I removed the waste container from the back and used a small curved hemostat to pinch closed the small drain line. I followed the directions in this video and left it to soak over night. In the morning I eagerly went down to the studio (a building we built behind our house so not too far) and did a test print. It was better but not perfect. I did another regular clean and it had improved but there was still an area in the center with total dropout. I preformed a medium clean and presto. Perfect. This video may have saved me around $3500.00! This printer never gets turned off again.

Tom Roberts i have same problem print head looks like clogged. When you close the small drain line after you removed waste tank, how do you unpinch and open small drain line? It looks like plastic If I pinch and close it I am afraid the small drain line might get stuck and might not open after soaking overnight? Also did not understand the point pinching the small drain line? Can’t we just fill capping station overnight without removing waste tank and pinching small drain line? Please someone explain to me?

I'm puzzled how this would work on the sp540v because the capping station raises and lowers to the print heads. You can't move the print head over when they are raised, and I assume you would want the station to be raised when the solution is in it?

I have a query, once you release the head, the capping station is disengaged, so if you put the head back over it the capping station is still disengaged as it hasn’t been mechanically lifted to seal the head... so your method won’t be sealed so won’t work And if the capping station isn’t lowered / disengaged with your method, then there’s a risk of damaging the face of the printhead Aren’t you better off turning it off one once head released, put the fluid on the capping station, then turn it back on then after it does it’s checks you turn it off via panel and the head is sealed correctly with the fluid and no risk of collision damaged If I’m wrong then correct me and explain how the capping station is disengaged and re sealed with your method

How would this work on a sp300i as the captops raises and lowers ?
@Sean-tn5nv4 жыл бұрын
the caps raise when you lock the head in place. they only lower when you move the head out of the way. Chances are you need new head(s) if you having to do this. Might stretch them out a little more thats about it

FIrst of all i would suggest you do be so quick as this guy, check first that the cap top is holding the fluid,fill as shown then just wait,if the fluid goes down check the waste pipe is clamped properly, personally i plug the tube rather than clamp. Make sure your machine is level,the fluid is a good indicator of this because if its one sided then you're not level,this is obviously important. I would try and be a little more careful than this guy when moving the carriage ,i cringed when he jolted it (there goes your fluid). Also clean up the fluid ,dont just put it al back together like this guy the solvent will destroy your paint on the machine. Although yes this video is informative its also pretty shoddy work,but hes right...that is how to do a head soak. Another tip,surround the cap top with paper towels, them put some fluid in and use an old tooth brush to clean the cap top and it will last longer and work better. (that`s my 2 cents) You wil need to do a clean or medium clean after doing the head soak by the way ,dont expect it to be perfect straight from the off.
