We just learned this recently, and one thing I don't really understand is exactly what specific movement we are trying to feel at the interspinous space. If the spine is flexing/extending the spaces are always changing, so how do you decide the when to stop the flexing the hip and lumbar ? Another words, if the spaces are always getting bigger or smaller, what am I looking for to establish the right position ?

If there is a restriction, for example if the space is less than the vertebral motion above and below then there might be a fixed closed facet joint. Then the idea is that you will want to OPEN the facet joint through manipulation or METs. Hope that helps. Regards JG

@@JohnGibbons 4:49 So is that left thumb placed right at the interspinous space of the fixed closed facet joint, there? And if so, is it just monitoring it with light pressure, or helping to force it open with some pressure?

Hi John, Do you think, with the relevant training, Sports Therapists can adequately incorporate HVT techniques into their practice? Or do you think they're best left to Osteos/Chiros?

Thanks for the message and yes i do if they are taught correctly and the therapist is continually fine tuned by an experienced Osteopath or Chiropractor. Regards JG

When you apply the thrust, in what direction do you thrust?
@JohnGibbons2 жыл бұрын
Through the direction of the femur so more of a side bend thrust rather than a rotation, regards JG
