Nicely done... I am a big fan of the obect select lasso for isolating my subject from the background, but then I take the easy way out... I also find it interesting that you use the brush rather than burn to lighten heavily shadowed areas. I am a dodge and burn girl - comes from a heavy photographic background.

Excellent tutorial! I love the explanations of not just what you are doing, but why. And the encouragement to push the limits to see what happens is priceless. This made it finally "click" in my mind. Thank you!

Are settings different for slate? I tried engraving a photo and it looked horrible.

A bit less dpi. Slate is easy to blow out

I like the final results , it is awesome. Do you find photoshop easier to use than GIMP or some of the other photo editing software.

Our motto is simple, We use photoshop and Lightburn to make it as smooth and easy as possible. No script, plugging or in and out of several programs.

I agree with your motto. I like LightBurn. Their are so many programs for photo prep and I have not found one yet to give me the results I want. Just trying to get a census of what everyone feels is the easiest one for a new user.
