"Taking a picture of something the way we always see it creates a boring image"... this insight is what makes you a great and inspiring instructor, Mike. You should trademark that statement 🙂

Thank you Ruggiero. Though I'm certainly not the 1st to say it and probably won't be the last. Though we are in a minority because the world has sadly been told upgrading kit and gadgets will make exciting images and most are looking for a quick 'hack' fix, which doesn't exist. There are a handful of controls to learn, the rest is down to us. Best wishes buddy... MIKE 🙏🙂

I do a lot of product photography and if I were to photograph motorcycles or Cars, I would fill the frame with the subject using natural light. Trying to show as little of the background as possible. and If I had to show the background I would have it a little blurry. I might also use focus bracketing

Great video. I've been working on and off, looking for and taking pictures of my 2013 Triumph Rocket III. Loads of fun. Am still looking for that near perfect shot of the bike and a selfie with the bike for when I'm super old and can no longer ride to have a framed photo of me with the Rocket to trigger those cherished memories.

Great video and good example of trying things out from different angles and perspectives. I found myself seeing things and wishing you had a faster lens for less depth of field but then that’s just my view as photography is so subjective. As a photographer and a new motorcyclist I am aching to get out with my camera and experiment. Great stuff!!

Enjoyable video, Mike! I, too, like photographing motorbikes. Sadly, given that I do not own a bike, not one with a motor, anyway, I am restricted to prance around other people's motorbikes parked somewhere crammed in the city, and their shiny shiny bits often reflect something that is of little interest. Speaking of reflections, puddles are rather hard to come by in Sydney, too. - Looking forward to Parts 2 and beyond, and also to further "How to look good in public" instalments. 😊

I just got into photography a few months ago. I been watching all your videos and I am learning a lot of great stuff from them. I ride a 2015 Harley Davidson Wide Glide. I love every chance I get to ride. Finding out your a biker too is awesome! This is my favorite video so far. Your a biker, get on your bike, go for a ride, don't be a wuss! Do you take your camera gear on the bike? How you pack it for the bike might be a cool video.

Thanks Living Life... Delighted to help. I had an FXRC 1340 evo years ago which was about 110% better than I expected it to be. Only bought it because the price was ludicrously cheap for bike with only 4,000 miles. Intended to sell it and make a few £s but ended up putting additional 40,000 on it. Uprated tyres suspension and brakes, delight to ride and never missed a beat. Wish I still had it.... Have a great 2020... MIKE 🙂

🙏 thank you @4CEYLON. Yes me too. I have a Truimph Legend which is day to day all weather bike. Not shiny like this one anymore but I've done over 112,000 miles on it (had it from new) and to be honest, it's still my favourite to ride. Don't know much about what's on the market. A you probably know I'm not interested in camera, just photography. Only thing I can suggest if you want to keep costs right down is a used Fuji XT-1 or maybe XT-2 if you like shooting video. It's easier on XT-2 which also shoots F Log so post is easier... But just because I like X series doesn't mean you will so se if you can have a go with one... MIKE

Hey Mike I truly love this video. Very inspiring and informative. However sadly my motorcycle days ended when I got married. Maybe if we were living in the UK 🇬🇧 my wife would let me have one but definitely not in Jamaica worth the horrible traffic conditions. That being said you’ve created another award winning KZbin video mate. All the best for 2020 and beyond man. ❤️

Yes agree they can make great pics minisla. I was doing that where the vid fades to black and says "there Was Much Faffing about' so sorry it didn't make the edit. It was getting rather long.... Will do some more similar with different bikes, locations and lenses over coming months and will include detail shots .. Best wishes... MIKE 🙂

(Alan) What sort of person wants to ride a motorcycle anyway ? :) Nice video Mike, it reminded me of when we were down in your neck of the woods, and a whole load of German bikers arrived at the hotel. There must have been about 25 BMWs in the car park. I preferred the photos taken at the quay side. I expect you were a bit limited by what you could carry, but I kept thinking a longer focal length to blow out the background would have helped. I found the backgrounds at the industrial estate too distracting.....Of course what would have helped, would have been a young lady sitting on the bike in a bikini... :) :)

This type of video is so much better that all the far east travelling (which I think are quite dull), but you missed a shot with the painted arrow on the road pointing at the bike.

Thanks Glyn 🙏. Probably missed a lot of shots TBH. In facyt as we were leaving i spotted a much more interesting place to shoot. It sometimes takes several visits to a location before we fully understand it. I'll make another with different bike, lenses etc soon. Sorry you're not keen on the Asia workshop vids. I agree they need to be of a better standard and I'm searching for employee to come film them properly. I can't be teaching and looking after clients and filming good content. Aimong to do more there because the imagery excites me and it's an opportunity to put something back for the wonderful people we meet. Just buying a couple of solar panels, batteries and lights for a village can change the entire course of the kids lives because someone will set up a schoolhouse and they get to learn how to read and write. Thus giving them the ability to make more informed choices about going to the city where they may well end up in a slum. It's my main purpose in life... Have a great 2020... MIKE 🙂

@MikeBrowne
@MikeBrowne 4 жыл бұрын
Hmm. Nicely made and good looking bike the Rocket 3. Did a bike swap with a buddy who had one whilst out one day. Loved the power delivery but wasn't that keen on it. My all time fav bike is my very scruffy Triumph 900 Legend. Had it from new in '99, stiffened up the suspension so handles like a rock on rails, (can scrape the silencers and see off a lot of sports bikers in corners) ride it year round and covered over 112,000 miles on it now. I'll never part with that one... Have agreat 2020 and keep on riding... MIKE 🙂
