Thank you! I knew our space was the issue. I also need additional space to light the all white backdrop. Such a tricky set!

I tried this weekend with a client and after a few attempts (I hadn't tested it out at home), and was very pleased with the results. I used the Sigma 85mm f/1.4 and got great results, too! (We didn't have a ton of space!) Thanks for this - the client is thrilled!

I have godox sk400V II , using my R5 with 50mm F1.8 , but when strobe flashes at 128 power (which is least) all I see is dark background it over shadows my fairy lights....what should I do ..why flash ruins everything

I notice you didn't mention the color check like your previous video, did you use it as a preset?
@ThatPhotographySpot Жыл бұрын
We still use the Spyder Colour Checker on every shoot 🙂

Great video Jess. Please, can Dan come round to put our Christmas lights up if he's got a free 30 minutes? 😆

Let me set him up on fiverr and we'll rent him out 🤣

Hi Jessica! Do you suggest using "Rear curtain Flash" or not?
@ThatPhotographySpot2 жыл бұрын
It is not required for this shot but if you are experiencing ambient motion then you could try it to alter the effect of any movement 🤓

The issue I run into using LED lights for this sort of shot is that the flicker of the lights is enough to make it shot hit or miss in terms of having any light in the background at all, or just part of the light string lit up. I was hoping that would be addressed.
@ThatPhotographySpot2 жыл бұрын
I haven't found this to be an issue at all indoors to be honest. I've only ever experienced it out on location with lights in the background (eg, in trees in the city for Christmas) and as I shoot more than one frame the dead frame can be either culled or composited. It is also far more common at higher shutter speeds, so balancing your ambient light with a slower shutter speed indoor with flash will help to ensure they are visible at all times. For reference, the string LEDs have a flicker at 1/60s but the tree LEDs do not have a flicker at all, so it might be worth trying a different set of lights if this happens frequently 👍

Love your work and videos. I have a quick question, do you find the 70-200 II much sharper and faster than the original? Thanks!
@ThatPhotographySpot2 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say there was a dramatic difference to be honest, but it is an upgrade for sure. I haven't shot any action with it yet though so bare that in mind!

You know when you gesticulate as you speak, with your camera in your hand, and no strap? I keep wanting to dive for the catch. Silly I know.

🤣🤣 the vertical grip helps a lot for grip, but I probably should get myself a wrist strap to calm viewer nerves 😂
