To all owners Who are looking to get a new rottweiler puppy! Please get your puppy from a regisered breader with health and hip guarantee to avoid the problem I have with my beautifull 9 months old female puppy. I noticed that she walks funny and her back legs are too close together. She also ouches after a longer walk. Went to vet and after an xray been taken she diagnosed her with severe hip displasia. Poor girl. She is such a sweet and beautiful dog! She will probably have a hip replacement operation when she is fully grown. That is her only option for better live. Please be carefull and do some research. Oh and another thing, get your dog a pet insurance. Thank you Collin for the great info. I love your family❤️🐶

Hey there I have had 5 of these lovely bears in total 4 girls last one is a boy who is 1 now . All different times as having 2 the same they will pass away closely together personally to much for me to deal wit as I have had to put 3 down already.. personally rather stager them doing everything to 2 can be hard at the same time at young ages? Because we have space and time we got two puppies, brother and sister siblings. Rottweiler and Catahoula Leopard Dog cross pups! Very smart, eager to learn. We saw parents on site, he is Rottweiler and mom is Catahoula. Both very good dogs. They love training!

Please read carefully: You should not just ask about the health of the parents, you should be asking to see the copies of the parents and grandparents health clearances! Hips, elbows, patellas, eyes, heart, dentition, JLPP and Long Coat DNA testing are currently recommended by the American Rottweiler Club. There should be at least a 3 -5 generation pedigree for the pup that shows these clearances. It should also show the conformation and working titles of the past generations. Picking a puppy has nothing to do with the “one that keeps coming to you”. That puppy could be a dominate, demanding pup that needs a very experienced owner. There are specific temperament tests that can be done that can pretty accurately predict the temperament and trainability of the litter. If you have never picked a puppy (especially a Rottie pup) you should find an owner or a trainer who is very experienced and have them come with you. And a quality breeder will actually pick a puppy for you. An 8 wk old male Rottie from excellent lines can actually weigh 16-20 lbs. It will top out anywhere from 100-130 lbs. They must undergo obedience and house training as soon as they come home. To illustrate this point, an average Rottie can pull 3 times their body weight!!!! So your 120 lb Rott will not have any problems dragging you down the street on a walk. Given firm but fair training from the start will accomplish this. And a Rottie is NOT a security system😠. If you want that, install a security alarm. They are naturally protective (mine have backed off a couple of “interesting” people with a glare and giant bark) but that is their instinct. Incorrectly encouraging that behavior can cause all kinds of issues. And a Rottie that bites, in the eyes of most laws, is a dangerous dog and is headed for euthanasia. I realize many of you think I am nuts and going overboard. My first Rottie was a rescue from a bad situation. She was originally born in a puppy mill. And at 7 wks already had a bite history. It took months and months of training with a highly experienced instructor to get her turned around. And then the health issues started. She was put down at 7 yrs old due to her poor health. My last two Rotties came from a Responsible Breeder. Champion bloodlines back many generations. Health clearances too. I applied and had to be approved. And waited 18 months for my first pup. She picked my pups for me. They both went on to be show champions and each have several working titles. One was actually a certified Therapy dog. The first one lived until 5 days before his 13th birthday. And the second is still going strong, going to be 12 next month. Buying and owning a Rottweiler is a very serious thing. The responsibility can be overwhelming. But a well trained, confident Rott with a solid temperament is truly a joy to have. And I will own one until I physically cannot.

We went to visit the last 2 females and our possible choice. Once the mama saw everything was OK she pushed open the front door and casually trotted over to the neighbor's house, patted on the door to visit with her bull dog friend. They had a chat and she came right on back. We hoped that was a good omen that mom was a cool rot and ,well, puppy will be too. We pick up the puppy on Thurs because a bit too icy today to attempt going to Ft Worth in this. Not a dog person, mostly cat. Had dogs from wimer, lab retriever, chihuahua, dachshund and Great Dane. All seem to flock to me. Never came across my mind to have a Rottweiler as a buddy so actually excited

I am getting my rottie pup in March and subscribed to your channel and watched a good bit of videos about Rottweilers, trying to absorb as much as I can before getting my rottie pup 🐶 but also have a couple of questions that I hope you are not to busy to answer 1.) I work from 8-4 sometimes and other times from 1- close, then we have to stock up and clean up before leaving so my question 🙋‍♀️ is How can I feed my puppy the numbers of times if I’m not home? 2.) How can I potty train the puppy if I’m not home to bring him outside? And no, I don’t have a doggy door 🚪 because this is not my place I am only renting 3.) and last but not least my puppy will have his own room with his food, water, bed & toys but as I stated I’m gone for a long time so by keeping him in his room without exercise for that long will that make him aggressive ? My tips is to write down questions to the breeder in advance and take notes! Always try to get a good picture of the parents siblings! Regarding health, litters, performances etc. If you have the opportunity to visit the kennel more then once, do that! And take someone with you to compare notes afterwards when you get home. Actually I would recommend that you visit a couple of kennels if you can, that is if you have them somewhat close and really can compare breeders, their dogs, breeding plans, knowledge etc etc. Best of luck to you!

In my book the first thing it said was do not get a Rottie if you are a first time dog owner. That doesn't stop me from wanting one though. If you want to know what I'd name them (I'd like to get two brothers) I'd name them 'Bane' and 'Venom'. Very unique names in the dog world and really cool characters to be named after. What are your thoughts on neutering? I prefer to have them get a vasectomy so their hormones and testosterone aren't altered.

I would add that you need to study the breed standard, and to look for flaws even if you are not going to show or breed the dog. The breed standard includes more than just flaws such as having a white blaze on the chest, bad posture, etc - which you want to know about because it is the difference between a $300 and a $1500 dog, it can indicate that someone is selling mixed breed dogs for pure breed, and a flaw in one area may tip you off that the dog may not meet the breed standard for temperament, etc. Each breed has a specific temperament, so if you have a parent cross bred to a pit bull for example somewhere in her linage - those traits can come out in your dog, or if you have a parent or puppy with flaws it's temperament may not be reserved, extreme intelligence, easily trained, not overly aggressive to other animals or people, not a coward, etc - this temperament is what we are paying hundreds of dollars for at the end of the day... OK, I made that last one up but it is true. These dogs are not cowards - they have been bred as herding dogs who will face off with a bear to guard it's family or flock, they have been used as war dogs, they have guarded people and property for hundreds if not thousands of years... this what you are paying for with that piece of paper (pedigree).

If you want a rottweiler that looks and acts like one then you need to do your homework and research breeders and bloodlines. From watching this video your dog doesn't have the correct head or muzzle type. When picking a puppy you can do temperament tests but they won't guarantee anything. Most people should pick a puppy that's social but not over the top. Not too bossy, not too clingy and not too independent.
