It usually takes a bunch of work to make them aggressive, but I grew up next door to a pair that was legitimately (trained to be) dangerous. @@ladyspartafitness Barking isnt neccesarrily a sign of aggression. Its literally a guarddogs job. I have meet plenty of guarddogs (growing up in the countryside) that barked at you to make it clear, that you are not allowed to enter the property, while wagging their tail, basically saying, "i have nothing against you, but if you go over the fence without my boss being here, we will have a problem". And thats exactly what they are supposed to do. Which is also why mail boxes, when there are free running dogs around, generally are not at the house, but at the gate (well at least in my corner of the world).

I briefly had a pitbull who did the same. She pulled hard on the leash when people walked by and it looked like she wanted to tear their face off. But when they were past, she whined and cried for them to come back. She was amazing with people and dogs at the dog park, but did have a bad habit of jumping on people. She fell in love with one of the guys at the park who didn't mind her flopping all over him, though I felt awful about it 😅.

@@ladyspartafitness my positive interactions with dogs do not in any way invalidate your negative experiences with untrained, aggressive, and reactive dogs. I know that I’m incredibly lucky to have routes with very well-trained dogs that are excited to see the mail person, and that my experience is not the norm. I always test a dog’s reactivity and willingness to interact positively before taking the personal risk to deliver. There are definitely a few houses on my routes where I do not interact with the dogs because they have shown obvious signs of real aggression towards myself or the truck, and others where interaction is not in the best interest of the dog because they are working livestock guardians. A lot of my knowledge of aggressive behaviors and telltale signs of potential risks for aggression have actually come from watching the more “dangerous” and “reactive” cases on this channel, and that knowledge has helped me immensely in keeping safe in my interactions with dogs while delivering. I’m not looking forward to the day I get bit, but I’m sure I will eventually.

A properly trained and socialized Rattweiler only becomes agressive if someone or something is threatening their family. I would argue that if any breed deserves a negative reputation, it's chihuahuas. I've watched a lot of breeders and trainers on youtube and generally they all agree that the honestly meanest dogs are the smallest ones -- not because they were bred that way, but because most owners of little dogs treat them like pack leaders instead of giving them any amount of discipline. I've been bitten by dogs twice in my life, once by a German Shepherd and once by a Chihuahua, both because I was trying to pet them. The Chihuahua's owner didn't even acknowledge the bite or take responsibility for it.😐

Applies to all breeds. And I would argue that the smallest breeds should actually be the ones that have the reps that rotties and pitties get. Way more people are bit by teeny chihuahuas with Napoleon complexes than by any large breed. But even with those, it's absolutely the lack of training by the owners. People tend to assume that the smaller the dog, the less training is needed, but that couldn't be further from the truth.

My son had an adopted Rottie he named Rodney. He was the best dog ever. Smart, sweet (to our family), very obedient. He was relatively small (under 100 lbs) and loved my Schnoodle (15 lbs) and played very gently with him. He lived to be 12 and we still miss him.

My mom and stepdad adopted a Rottweiler back in 2015, and she was a big sweetheart, she was also really good with my niece. She sadly past away at the end of 2023. I miss her every day.

I watch most of your videos but have never genuinely felt like I was going to cry out of cuteness before. She's a perfect baby. I met a Rottweiler once who was waiting outside a shop with her human, and the second I said hello and held my hand out for her to sniff, she threw herself against my legs and essentially forced me to cuddle her - nearly knocked me over. The guy gave me a knowing chuckle and said "now she's never gonna let you go". The sweetest giant.

Rhonda may be the cutest Rottweiler I've ever seen. Her little face is so adorable. At one point during the shower, you could see that she was looking at Vanessa, almost like asking permission to shake. And it appeared she was enjoying her head massage mid-shampoo too. She is SUCH a good girl. I love her so much... 😭😭❤

She’s incredibly intelligent. When Vanessa was gesturing to the wall, talking about how there’s no hair on the wall. Rhonda turned around and looked at the wall trying to figure out what she was talking about. Is what it look like.

Funny how this vid comes up in my recommended, yesterday at work I saw the biggest Rottweiler in my life and it looked like such a teddy bear! It was looking at me from the counter with big brown eyes and a big smile 😊 I said “hi puppy!” Like I do with every other dog I see, and its little tail started wagging! I wish I could’ve given it a great big hug!

I know a rottie-pittie who was likely bred to fight but is the biggest smoochiest snuggliest baby! He was literally rescued from the snow at 6 weeks. He had a missing muscle group on one leg and had a slight limp & appears to have been just thrown away while alive. He was likely rescued pretty fast, he was in good health and with exercise, his gait was fixed completely. He is a massive adult dog, but even when he believes there may be a threat, he does not choose violence. He’s very much the “let’s lock the scary thing in the bathroom/garage and let mommy handle it” kind of good boy. I am always cautious around dogs who are stronger than humans, that’s just common sense, but he is an absolute angel. And it’s beautiful that his missing muscle ended up saving him and giving him a wonderful loving family ❤

Had the opportunity to have a Rottweiler in my life years ago. My mothers ex needed his dog to be taken in, he was no longer able to look after him. We brought him home when he was 11, he spent 4 great years with us and passed away in our living room at 15. The biggest baby, scared of his own shadow, lovable guy. I miss his goofy smile and his habit of sticking his head in your lap right after drinking water. He was incredibly trained, thanks to his previous owner so we could never take any of that credit but was poorly looked after. We got him vet treatment, proper diet and exercise. Just so happy to have been able to give him the best remaining years of his life. ❤ I love Rotties

Rhonda reminds so much of my sweet Rottie girl Luxa. She too was a rescue and became a service dog for one of our friends. However our friend never got comfortable with Luxa and we adopted her. We had 9 glorious years with her until she succumbed to bone cancer at 11. Hands down, she was the smartest, the most loving dog I have ever been blessed to share space with. I still miss her every day. Thanks for sharing Rhonda with us. Although seeing her be so brave and stoic during her bath made me cry thinking about my girl it was joy to see this beautiful dog today.

I had 4 Rottweilers that spanned a period of 16 years and they were the sweetest dogs. My vet said they should be the poster children for Rotts - Elsa, Anzel, Eli and Ali Belle were their names. I would still have one if it wasn’t for my age and degenerative disc disease which forced me to downsize to Mini Schnauzers, Zach and Zoey. I love dogs. My Rotts would lay on their back, stick their feet up in the air for me to clip their nails. It was funny to watch.

We had a rottweiler when I was a kid. My mom put a spike collar on her at first since she was unsure of her temperament, the kind that digs into her neck if the leash is pulled hard. We took her hiking and my mom was pulling hard as she was afraid and the dog was so big and strong, then the dog bit my mom's arm very very gently so as to communicate that the spikes were hurting her. My mom immediately understood what a sweet and controlled dog this was and took off the spike collar. She was the sweetest dog I've ever known.

We had a Mal/Boxer mix named Underfoot (yes, that was her name) who loved baths and showers. We had to start locking the doors when we took showers because she was 80lbs of solid, energetic joy at knee height and would bullet train into the bathroom if we so much as turned on the tap to wash our hands. More than once if we forgot, we'd start taking a bath or shower and find ourselves with large, fuzzy company. I miss her but I know she's living up to her name and being underfoot of all the angels.

Sad to think of a rottie being "skin and bones" because they're supposed to be really solid. Not overweight obviously, but solidly built. It's one of the awful things about breeds getting reputations for being aggressive and mean, bad owners will get them and treat them terribly.

Around 30 years ago I lived in a small (but lovely) Bavarian village with a Rottweiler in the neighbourhood. When I passed the house on my way to or from work she would come to the garden edge ( no fence!) to greet me and get some cuddles. Anja was the sweetest dog I could imagine ( and I'm by nature a cat person). I've moved since but I still miss her kind and calm ways.
