There are probably other ways to do it, but I found this to be the quickest and least painful way. Keep in mind that these berries are more seed than anything else, so you have to pick quite a bit to get enough for a batch of jelly or fruit leather. A gallon is probably the minimum.
This gallon of berries produced just over 2 quarts of juice after they were boiled and run though the food mill.

I have never ate them before . We need to check to see if we got any in our woods . For me cutting them down would feed the goats as well . Thanks for sharing !

I'm pretty sure they're in Indiana as well. You can easily identify them now because the berries are all ripe. The underside of the leaves is silver!

My autumn olive tree hasn't produced anything yet. Looks like work...they're tasty?

No, they're not that tasty. Very little sugar and mostly tart. Most of the berry is a big single seed, which is why you have to pick so many to get enough fruit. Still, they are packed with nutrients and are plentiful here. We made our jam 50/50 strawberry and autumn olive and it turned out great!
