Nice one! I had a small intuition of those key drivers but the methodology you apply is definitely the right one. Thanks! About Intel Vs AMD well, I 've being an AMD investor since 2019 and it was not because of the EPS at that time (I guess I bought with a P/E of around 135), it was because of the clear strategy and alignment of the technical portfolio with that strategy, almost breaking the Moore Law, increasing dramatically the performance and reducing chips consumption without bleeding cash in R+D. From that angle, even if Intel do everything right to catch up with AMD, it will take 2-3 years to make that happen. On top of that I understand that Lisa Su is much more a shareholder-oriented CEO (and charismatic) than the new one from Intel (you can check VMWare shares evolution in a bull market until he left). One important news that you don't mention is the trend to ARM chips, it looks that some investors think that those chips are the future (Apple M1 is a good example) and they are partially right, but still there is a huge MOAT around the classic x86 architecture so both Intel and AMD have a decade to innovate and incorporate in their architectures some of the benefits of ARM chips. In my humble (opinion) they both will coexist. Bye Jimmy!

I think you are little biased or too optimistic ,you are focusing to much on the p/e ratio which is very low but it is irrelevant, because the semiconductor industry is a one which is always evolving and intel is not trying to evolve to match the demand of new chips which other companies are doing, nvidia and amd on the data center side or fang stocks which are builidng their own chips to meet their needs so Intel will slowly lose a big portion of their revenues.(Sorry english is not my mother tongue)

Nice video but few things worth mentioning. Intel is going to loose Apple (ATM M1 chip), it will also start loosing wifi segment for the chips (apple and amd with mediatek) and 5G and the AMD has passed 10% for the server chip segment. I agree that P/E is high for AMD compared to Intel but I think AMD has much better cards as Intel. Also the architecture designers are better atm at AMD. And do not forget he graphics card segment. The console segment is also mostly on AMD side (xbox and ps5).The xilinx could also be a game changer with programable SOCs on the fly (this is a speculation but it is in the pipe.). Also semi is fast moving industry and in two years time the technology shifts and get replaced and since ATM intel does not have a vision for less then two years time I think AMD is better stock than Intel ATM. Also if there would not be a shortage in the chip market the Intel would be in even worse situation.

At 10:00 you explain the PE ratio as for every dollar of profit you pay X which equals to the PE ratio, isnt it for every one dollar of EARNINGS you pay X which equals to current PE ratio?
@DavidEVogel3 жыл бұрын
Think you have it right. The ratio makes companies comparable. A P/E 30 is more expensive than a P/E of 20. Keep in mind that the "earnings" are not your earnings (assuming that you own the stock). The earnings are those of the company.
@LearntoInvest3 жыл бұрын
