Great video, battery cells have improved a lot I've seen 21700 Samsung cells with 5000mAh and 3.7V, and 1000 charging cycles for around 175€ the kWh, there are 4000mAh cell for little as nearly 100€ per kWh. In the last 3 years batteries cost have fallen to a half, expect to have common prices around $100 for 1kWh by 2022 and $70 by 2025. PS: in 2010 1kWh was about $1000 (lon-lithium).

How do Rimac plan for when the car has to scrapped and recycled? Are the battery cells easy to pull apart? If so how

is this a A123 systems battery?
@Azagro4 жыл бұрын
Lol no, A123 doesn't remotely have the density required.

Azagro well, it is an A123 cell, you can see from the video. Rimac is not a cell manufacturer, they buy cells from other manufacturers like A123, Sony, Murata, LG, Samsung (Direct quote from Mate himself). Cell manufacturing is not the most crucial part for the final performance of a battery pack, but rather monitoring systems, thermal management and in build safety precautions systems, that’s where Rimac is an expert in.

500kW? The cells are discharging at 55c? He didn't state the chemistry or manufacturer for that white cell. Is it some kind of lithium polymer?

"big manufacturer" = Porsche
@mvonpalmer4 жыл бұрын
Probably Tesla. Porsche uses pouch cells not the 18650 he was showing, that Tesla uses in the Model S and X. 2170 in the 3 and y are similar but a bit bigger.

@@mvonpalmer Probably not, maybe volkswagen, VAG is a big Rimac's client.

@@amigodesigns I did not take the comment as who his customer is but rather who uses what cells. Maybe I heard wrong.

@@mvonpalmer Previously on Concept One they did use Samsung SDI. Which Tesla also uses for Stationary Energy Storage. That's maybe the link you are looking for. www.businesswire.com/news/home/20151123005451/en/Samsung-SDI-Supply-Cylindrical-EV-Batteries-JAC
