This is one of the most requested videos ever! How to Choose the Right Travel Backpack for you is very important when preparing for your travels. Whether you're travelling for a week or a year, you can use the same backpack as long as it's the right one for your body and has all of the features you're wanting in a travel backpack. In this video, Siya and I take you to SAIL, which is an outdoor adventure store where shop at before any big trip. We have been using the same travel backpack for the past 10 years, and wanted to get an upgrade. Our old backpacks did us well, but were missing several features that are important to us. We take you through the entire process of choosing the right travel backpack for YOU and the things to look out for when choosing that backpack that will become your mobile apartment and ultimate travel companion.

One more tip. Ones you found that pack you like, put some weight in it and see how it holds up. Almost any pack will feel comfy when empty, but it's not till you add 30lb you will really feel how all those straps and backsupport will feel on you. Most stores have sandbags they can add.

A lot of backpacks are designed to prevent that. I have the Osprey Farpoint 40L, and there is no way anyone could get into it without me knowing. All the zippers can be tucked in under the cinching straps that have decent sized buckles. I would definitely feel if someone were trying to unhook the buckles, let alone try to unzip it. Never had a problem with it when traveling around Asia for six months.

These tips came in handy today, bought myself a nice lil pack to walk the Camino de Santiago next month. Difficult to find myself a bag though, as I also eventually measured as an extra small at the shop I bought mine at... but because I'm pretty tall at 5'8", associates kept putting me in the wrong size at MEC haha. Never realized how disproportionate my torso was... oh well!

I travel backpack since last year. I've sold all my suitcases, bought an Osprey Farpoint 55 as a carry-on bag, and an Osprey Ariel 65 for hiking + backpacking. Those are my favorite travel gear! I first bought the Osprey Sirrus 36 for day hikes, and because it was SO comfortable, I got the Sirrus 24 that I currently use at work where I'm carrying my wallet, my tablet and all my work stuff (I'm a nurse who visit patients at home). It is my **AWESOME** Osprey pack collection! 😃🎒.

LOL!!! Siya's Nemo bag!!! lol...The magenta one is cute! But I do love the Aqua one you picked! Beautiful colour!...ugh but Siya's pick has the extra day pack and camel pack compartment... oh man...decisions!!! Sail's my favourite too, I like it more than MEC. I just can never decide on a good back pack so always end up using regular ones which end up hurting my shoulders or making me sweaty... osprey and gregory are over priced, usually retailers will try to point you towards the more expensive items. Don't get me wrong they're good bags if you have the money for them. From personal experience I've found bags online that rival their quality and have a couple more features for less than half of the price.
@hopscotchtheglobe
@hopscotchtheglobe 7 жыл бұрын
+supersonic kid I've used many bags over the years that were cheaper but have found my Gregory to be unbreakable and if it does one day, they have a lifetime warranty :) which bag do you use? I'd love to know! Thanks for watching
@dcamarenaking
@dcamarenaking 7 жыл бұрын
Kristen Sarah I'm currently rocking a mountaintop 60L. For 59.99 I got water resistant fabric with an included rain cover, which I know osprey bags don't come with, not sure if Gregory bags do. Although it doesn't have the same warranty. In a period of three years it survived 500 miles of the Appalachian trail, as well as the Rockie Mountains, the grand canyon, Zion National Park, Yosemite and Hawaii. Its been trough some things and still holding up better than most relationships lol. I did find your review really informative for people just getting into backpacking tho, plus is really well put together.

@@dcamarenaking also, assuming you are from the states, in Canada good quality cheap bag isn't super accessible I mean I live in a pretty big city and it's hard for me to find a (under 45L) for less than 120 CAD. So, a Gregory or Dueter priced at $120-140 doesn't seem too awful.

Great tips but two major flaws many of us face. Firstly, we don't always get the scope fo choice of brands or bags e.g. for me Fjallraven, or even a particualr model. Second, the sales staff ap[ear highly informed, rarely does that seem the case. Therefore a buyer has to become educated; and frankly a PhD in bags is required as there are far too many to choose from, and then we are faced with guessing when buying from the internet and that becomes a pot luck. Now to measure my back...this shouls be fun!
