I use a RRS set of legs and the BH-55 head.( I just happened look at the BH-55 last evening on B&H and the are $700 now days) I also own 2 Artcise tripods I use when I don't have to carry them far. They are tanks and rock solid. I have an aluminum tripod from Amazon. But, my RRS is my go to tripod.

I have several tripods, and my favorite one is very heavy. I enjoy using it, but not enjoy carrying it. When I saw this heipi, I thought it could be my spare tripod and take it with me when I to travel. It is lightweight, and also versatile. Love your videos!

Nice Attilio! great to see the details and features of the Heipi tripod, with all the features it makes the cost worthwhile and allows me to leave 2 other items at home that the Heipi has. Stability is also a HUGE issue, but I assume you would not even recommend it if it wasn't close to as stable as your RSS tripod. I bought the Be Free Tripod 5 years ago, and to much play in the legs. I know you have other work which takes priority, but love to see your videos when you put one out. Have learned a lot. Got some great Long Exposure Shots on my visit to Japan in May, and will have them on my Instagram in the next few weeks. Your tutorials were a huge help. I use the Benro FTA18CVO for travel now, nice and solid. I found the FLM Tripods were Great for my full size and made my own head using an RSS lever On top of a Unique ball head, that allows a quick connection. But the Heipi could allow for fewer things in my backpack if it's nice and solid. Thanks! looking forward to your next video!

This reminds me the Peak Design i had a while back, it looks like it has everything I am trying to avoid in my tripod: the flimsy 5 section leg, the flip locks, the ballhead itself, and the close to useless center column.

The tripod I currently use is a Manfrotto and I really enjoy it. One of my main criteria was height as I am tall, though weight was also a very important aspect. Haven't been outdoors in a while, but next week I am heading out on a 3 day trip and will find out if I would need to consider upgrading my tripod to a newer one ;-)

I have owned so many tripods. An important factor is the type of materials used. I own a gitzo but as versatile and compact as this is, it's still heavy ish. I was taken in by a well known photographer extolling the virtues of a vanguard. This turned out to fall apart and metals break off from it even under light use. I have other makes but I am yet to find a cheaper tripod sturdy enough in rivers, sea and sometimes thick mud to risk getting another one. And leg height is important as extending that centre column is asking for trouble. However, this one does look good and versatile but it's a compromise which for some might be useful. I'm sticking with the right tripod to match the task ahead and if that means extra weight then so be it. However, as a vlogging tripod it might just be ideal. I'm not shelling out any more money on a tripod, bags, lenses, accessories than I need. Love your videos and glad to see you are back in action👍

I was waiting on another equipment video. Especially a support equipment. I have been using my RRS TC24L for about 4 or 5 years now and absolutely love it. It appears yours is possibly the 34? The legs on mine weren’t quite as much as yours. Mine is very sturdy and I rarely ever fully extend the bottom leg sections. In fact, I only pull them out to where they are only out as much as my hand is wide. I have been looking lately though for a lighter one for when I do take longer walks but really don’t want to sacrifice support and stability. I have to have the stability because I shoot a lot at night and in some areas where it can get a little breezy. I will definitely be looking into their Heipi tripod you showed here. I have always been leery of tripod columns, but with the way this one was designed, it might serve my purpose well. Thanks for sharing this information with us!

Thanks for sharing Attillio, Most photographers buy several tripods before buying 'the one'. In my case it was no different and when I got a refund for my holiday that got cancelled by covid a couple of years ago, I spent in on a good carbon Benro tripod which I still enjoy today. Not only does it help for long exposure photography, it also helps for composing tilt-shift shots where I need to manually focus

Hi Attlio, super cool new tripod and great video as usual. There's another criteria which I would've hoped to have seen in this video. This criteria is stability under windy conditions for landscape photography. I've found that super light carbon tripods often need to be reinforeced with extra weight like hanging the backpack or even adding stones to a pouch wich can be hanged to the underside of the tripod.
@AttilioRuffo

An innovative design, for sure. My concern would be the stability at full height, given that it has five-section legs. I'm very happy with my Benro Tortoise 34C and GX35 head, which ticks all the boxes as regards height, compactness, sturdiness, portability, quality and price.

Helle Attilio, I guess this tripod has a huge design problem. If I am wrong please let me know. Here is the problem that I found. If I take the Sub Tripod out of the Heipi 3-in- 1 Tripod, I cannot reach the 3/8" screw. Because the Center column locking ring stays over the 3/8" screw. You can say, continue to use Sub Tripod. But here is the thing, If I want to use it with William Optics High Latitude Vixen Style Base Mount or any other ball heads still I should use Sub Tripod for adjusting the height. This is not helping in carrying less weight with the backpack.

BEWARE. Most of us who paid for this tripod on Indiegogo have not received our tripods, which are now three months late. We were supposed to receive our tripods in March, but the shipping date has been pushed back two or three times. We were promised that we would receive our tripods in May. As of May 31, we have no tripod (at least those of in the US and Europe). HEIPI has stopped responding to requests for updated shipping information. However, backers of HEIPI's Kickstarter campaign for this tripod have received their tripods as of early May. HEIPI is responding to backers on their Kickstarter campaign. This is very disconcerting to say the least for those of us who are backers of the Indiegogo campaign.

Thanks for the great video Attilio, you have a new subscriber! I have a question that you might address in your upcoming video about this tripod. It appears that the Heipi's not so compatible with Arca-Swiss quick release plate due to a 1 mm size different (Heipi at 39mm x 39mm and Arca-Swiss at 38mm x38mm). In your video you show attaching your camera with a standard Arca-Swiss L-bracket. Is the fit tight and secured? Can you adjust the tension if not? I have L-brackets on all my cameras and Arca Swiss plates on all my long lenses. I love the idea of this most innovative Heipi tripod, but if it is not Arca-Swiss compatible is a deal breaker! Thanks in advanced and looking forward to your new video.

Great comparison, very useful since there are so many choices out there. My main tripod is a 32 years old Manfrotto Bogen 3021, it is very heavy but very sturdy not fun to take on a hike so it stays in the studio most of the time. Not sure the comparison is fair. You are comparing an expensive tripod from a company that is very high priced with an “entry” level tripod. As others have suggested I would not trust this “entry” level tripod in the wind or river, yes it might “hold” 55 lbs, but how stable is it. Finally as a landscape photographer, I’m often on un-level ground and having a tripod that extend legs beyond my normal viewing height is important.
