What I did was I gradually did a few inhales squeals a day and it hurt at first but eventually your throat accepts it better and better and it wont hurt anymore. Thanks for the great vid. @trashtalkboys I honestly felt like I could do it almost instantly but I REALLY had to work on pitches. My advice to you if you are having trouble is too not give a shit what other people thing and tighten your stomach muscles and try and "Push" your voice out of your throat. That helped me learn. Eventually you won't need to tighten your stomach muscles anymore and you can just relax. Its almost kind of like trying to bark like a dog or roar like a bear.

@zVasslinezz uh...i saw them live, and talked to their singer. He pulls in realllly hard with his throat. Im not saying they inhale the whole time because he doesn't. But when the high pitched things come into play, he is pulling in really hard....they broke up by the way.

If you growl alot you'll sooner or later get a soar throat even if u use your diaphragm so not to damage your voice it's better to rest it untill it's fully recovered and then try again, you'll feel the difference!

Not if you do it the right way, don't use your throat. It's kinda harder, but use your thoracic diaphragm (The muscle in your stomach) to push the air out and it won't fuck up your vocal chords. I do it every day for extended periods of time, been doing it every day using the diaphragm instead for like 2 1/2 years and nothing's happened.

help for some people... imagine doing a normal low growl and say something with e in it like bleed or some shit like that to get your mouth right imagine your whistling sometimes its almost like a growl mixed with a whistle... thats best way I can think of it!

ppl do scream this way. You are talking about fry screams which are the screams i originally learned but ppl use both ways and with proper technique u can scream either way with out hurting

You can still growl and scream just check out Angela Gossow from Arch Enemy She's AWESOME =) Just approach guy screaming with care and try to stay away from it if you ain't alto =) It's just for the cords ain't thick enough and you might end up killing your throat

when i growl/scream, i can only do my normal mid range to lows, but i'm having trouble getting highs. i can do it using the fry technique, but not growling/screaming. does that mean i just cant do it? haha i do have kind of a deep voice for my age. does that have anything to do with it?
