It's called stop running. Used to be done by the guys on the trading floor; now it's done by computers trading for banks, insurance companies, other institutions. I agree with your solution which is essentially don't place your stop where everyone else does. ATR is as good as any, but it is known to others too, including banks, ins cos, etc. So use ATR as a way to indicate volatility,, but add several ticks. Good luck!

@@SIMONREMISH I'm not one to copy. I'm barely starting out. I place a stop above a previous high after the stops above the high have been cleared out. You can see them being run, then in a few moments the market sells off, leaving a wick or tail sticking up as evidence of their "treachery!" The market seems to be teaching me that a stop should be distant and serves to protect your account should your internet connection die suddenly. I am learning to watch the market and if a trade is not working, kill it immediately. Don't sit there and just wait for the market to take out your stop. That can be an expensive way to go. But as I say, I'm just a newbie.

Safest is put your SL at previous market structure low. By definition that's the beginning of the current trend. You reduce your risk by reducing Ur position size to ensure you only lose R ie 1% at SL To overcome the loss of reward, you add scale in trades during the trend. Assume all impulse correction are part of TREND CONTINUATION till price breach's previous low (then you can be confident trend is now in TREND REVERSAL)

If you are worrying about your stop loss its because you took a trade at poor value and have to have a longer stop loss as a result. You need to be willing to wait for the price to come to you on the edge or outside of its range then you can afford a better stop loss in relation to the current range of the market. Its all about patience and not giving in to fomo. Easier said then done though.

Yes and no. They are 2 different systems. System in video is safe SL, with bigger targets. Your system of your description is narrow SL with unsafe targets. The problem is often you will miss the trade because you aren't in the market. SL levels fall within a given system. Mine actually makes the SL at a definite target, as though I want it to be hit, with a narrow entry. I miss trades but don't have to set a safe SL, the way you described.

one strategy: set a stop loss to start with..once your profit is 2:1 move your stop loss to 1:1 to lock in that profit. Then set your trailing stop at the price you bought at and let it run. once trailing stop surges past your 1:1 profit level ..you are good to go

Since you don't know in advance where the market goes setting an ATR sounds reasonable from the start... but accordingly to what I mentioned before think of the following: what if the ATR is not respected at all and you have to handle an even bigger loss than before... You have to consider where prices are cheap and expensive... where your areas of interest are... and many things more... Trading looks easy... but it demands dedication, education and patience...

Price will usually dip into these areas to satisfy imbalance before more orders can stack to continue motion. This is why a bull flag stair steps down (grabbing liquidity=satisfying imbalance) then shoots up once the satisfactory balance is met. Welcome 💪🏾

@@Adar195 essentially, institutions trade with such large amounts of volume, now I'm sure you understand, for every buyer there needs to be a seller, vice versa. Now institutions cannot trade as regular, as there's no participant willing to buy or sell their moves, so essentially, institutions have to manipulate the market, stopping out all retail members, which in return creates liquidity, and this liquidity is basically like a key which gives them access to make their next move... If you do not know what I mean by institutions and retail, a quick Google search will do the trick. God bless 🙏🏽

Now I'm not really sure about how much I believe in this technique, but the original stop loss is not chosen by "gut feeling." You put your stop loss one tick below (or above) the most recent candle swing. If price is going up and every swing creates a higher low, then putting your stop loss one tick below the last swing (last low) will prevent you from getting stopped (you hope anyways haha.) Thats the strategy most traders use for placing their stop loss's. Same rule applies when you are chasing a runner

The big banks and smart money can see where all the retailer have their stop loss and take prof..so the will always swing low and wipe out the retailer traders before continuing on the uptrend..ive seen it a thousand times

honestly when I watch stocks how Ive come to understand it is mostly from the phycology of others, a high buy going up means that the bears are gonna sell lowering with the fight continuing up the loss becomes to great lowering it again and the the bulls will continue to raise it again for awhile, just watch the candles and make sure to play it safe from your entry point

I paid and took this for a month could be my bad timing in this ranging and bear market. But most signals occur after the move has happend and some other indicators massively repaint themselves after 4-5 candles.the discord is good tho with pro traders but they will confuse you as well. Overall its a good attempt but there are no indicators that can predict the market. I'd suggest waiting for Bull market and then try this. Ranging market sucks.

Price mostly goes to the obvious Stop Loss. What you do, is not add the ATR to your Stop Loss, that just makes the trade worse, what you do is you set a stop order where you actually wanted to place your stop loss, and you will see, you´ll win way more often.
