Hi! I am intelligent, educated, with gifts… but never had courses in finance, economics or business. A lot of crypto videos do not bother to teach basics; if they explain, they do so as if they think most of their audience already knows the info. It seems that for my type of investing (dollar cost averaging into index ETFs), a stop sell order would the most useful to me to exit completely if the market really goes south. This is the best video about this subject I´ve found so far... even like this I gotta say I didn´t understand it very well... If for example I want to buy AAPL in a limit order of 100, it means that the maximum priceI want to buy is 100. It makes no sense to me... why not to buy it on time at market price? When is it gonna be bought if the maximum price is 100? That´s extremely confusing

Greed and fear are the dangerous emotions when trading. To avoid those you have to set a limit. Sure you can adust it to maximum price but that will also put you in higher risk. So always limit your loss and take small but consistent profit.

Markus, I was actually looking for this exact question. To rephrase it: I don't understand why place an upper/higher limit to buy the stocks? I'm thinking we want to buy them as cheap as possible, so maybe put a lower limit, for ensuring their price dropped enough, when they are bought.

I think I get it. BUY - Buy Stop says I am willing to buy it at this price or more for it. I expected a higher price and I am not getting it so to cover my loss let me take the highest price I can get on the market. Buy Limit says this is the maximum price or limit I can buy this for. If it is higher than that, it is too expensive, forget it. SELL - Sell Stop says I will sell immediately it hits a certain price or lower else I might keep loosing money. Market is not in my favour. Sell Limit says I can only sell it at minimum this price because I know the market is in my favour so I can command more price.

Does your calculator take margin into account? on a 10k acct --for HTZ it says 50 options at a 2 put but ea option requires $205 margin, so do you keep a sep acct for your margins? or do you cut your options in hAlf to cover margin?

Consequently, what if 1k shares are around 20k USD; however, the next 1k is at 21k USD, the next 2k is at 23k USD and the rest is at 25k USD. Here is my question: Since the price shares are increasing in order to buy the 5k shares I will spend an average price of 22.4k USD because I'm buying to people (let's say); or the trading platform completes the 5k shares at different different average price (22.4k USD) since I am choosing "market prince", maybe the trading platform have some shares and they want to sell it. Is that possible?
