shot a club match like this using a percussion Sharps, with paper cartridges for my single shot lever action rifle. A bunch of people shot the the gun after the match. big fun time and was making hits on the 75 to 100 yard targets regularly much to my surprise

Very informative. I have been shooting Cowboy for 23 years now and really did not understand Plainsman as well as it was explained by Jed i. TV! Great job! PP.

+Peter Pedone Thanks! I was hoping folks would learn something from it. Glad you enjoyed it.

Yes indeed! -Jed (who’s still catchin’ up on old comments. Sometimes KZbin doesn’t send me notifications 🤷♂️)

Just put a dab of red finger nail polish on the unloaded cone easy to do easy to see.

I see a lot of folks using that method. -Jed (who keeps finding comments that are years-old with no replies) 🤠

Usually when I see all the caps fly off the revolver on the first shot, it's because they used #11 caps instead of #10's.
@JEDiTV4 жыл бұрын
That can be part of the problem. But, factory caps, in general, aren’t worth keeping on the revolver. Especially if you plan on competing with ‘em. Save yourself the frustration and buy after market nipples (Treso or SliXshot). - Jed 🤠

Well, that is one of our goals! 😊 Find a local club and check it out.

You should use beeswax as well to seal the loads
@JEDiTV2 жыл бұрын
I do now (well, not “beeswax” per say but I do seal the cylinder mouths).

That does look like a really fun match.

It was! They've got another one coming up in October of this year.

I haven't yet got my gear for regular SASS matches :) Though I have a trapdoor rifle that is suitable. I need to have a gunsmith look it over first as it is antique. "An elegant weapon from a more civilized age."

Not as "clumsy or random" as some modern "blasters", eh?
@macewen17 жыл бұрын
Yessir, though I am not a great shot, I might do better with the blast shield down.

Cool.. Notice nobody uses a Spencer.... Could you shoot 45 colt in bp at this match?
@JEDiTV2 жыл бұрын
Yes you could shoot a rifle chambered in .45 Colt in these matches but, a Spencer is not allowed in Plainsman (regular match stages, it is though!).

What can you tell me about the single shot rifle and single shot buffalo side matches? Is it literally just one shot or is it a couple with single shot weapons?
@JEDiTV6 жыл бұрын
I can tell you that it is definitely more than one shot. It varies depending on how the “side match” is set-up. But, a typical example might be 10 shots on one target out to a hundred yards. The winner would be determined based on how many hits were on target. Ties would be settled by who had the fastest time in that scenario. Again, that is just one example of how they are run. Next time I go to a larger match I will get footage of a single shot side match and make an episode here on JED iTV. Thanks for the question!
