Obviously you've disabled the auto safety, probably cut a coil or two off the lever-opening spring, polished the bearing surfaces and extractor, and either polished or honed the chambers. Perhaps a video on the upgrades you've done to the gun would be appropriate.

I have said before that using a double barrel shotty is OK for Home Defense as long as you move, seek cover and reload while moving as it is the height of folly to stand put and fire whatever you are using continously as then you become a stationary target. You technique is invaluable. Good explanation on how to do it fast.

Coach guns to me are the ultimate practical shotgun. Nice and short in tight areas for urban operations, and powerful enough to stop any assailant in a single shot. I own a Stoeger Double Defense in 12 ga. and have been very interested lately in sharpening up my techniques as I recently discovered that there are many Cowboy Action groups down here in FL. Thanks Dead Eye!

This is a superb tutorial. One slight disconnect I saw: the spoken tutorial mentions the butt stock going under the armpit which put the thumb in position to open the action. The slow-motion shows the thumb starting to move the action level before the butt stock moves from the shooting position I suspect the slow-motion to be the more accurate description, as it was taken in actual motion. The thumb position will ultimately depend upon the physiology of the individual shooter. In no way does this detract at all from this excellent tutorial. Many thanks
@DeadEyeCowboyActionShooting4 жыл бұрын
The stock definitely drops but when I'm accurate with the top lever alot of the time it opens before I start to pull back with my weakhand. When something is sticky, like I hit the top lever wrong, driving the barrels back to the shoulder help to still open the top lever and break the action. It's also hard to get across what something "feels" like at times. For me, when im shooting good, it feels like I'm really driving the shotgun into my thumb. That's the motion I want to feel so everything "times" good.

One shot one target, If you need more it's too late. People has been bird hunting with two shots for hundreds of years. If you had a musket you had only one shot. This 6-7 shots is silly. Your good at what you do and a very good instructor.

What tips would you have for a newbie to get geared up? What is it best to avoid regarding gear? Great vid. Thanks.
@DeadEyeCowboyActionShooting4 жыл бұрын
First recommendation is to get out to a few local matches to see what people are using. Most are very willing to tell ya all about their gear. What they like, what to avoid, and so on. I would avoid buying anything before you've been to a few shoots. I seen some show up with guns that weren't legal to shoot or was a pain to use. Let the shooters know your looking to gear up and I have no doubts they'll take care of ya!

Yup, been there a couple times! Great range! Personally, I'm a Browning fan but more people probably shoot SKB's. Both will perform great when worked over properly. It'll really come down to the ergonomics for you. You'll know when you pick up the right one!
