Great explanation, but you must also consider the NFVA of any baffles placed under the roof at each soffit vent. They're often under 25 sq in when a vent sheet is fully used between 24" rafter spacing. If you're forced to use a half sheet of baffle due to tighter rafter spacing (such as 16"), then you are REALLY restricting the NFVA. In other words, if you're going to use baffles, you may have to significantly increase the number of soffit openings used, and there's no need to use large soffit vents as the baffles will be restricting the flow, anyway.

Great Information.! I am currently building a new home and would like to make sure adequate ventilation is in place as ive had issues in the past. I am confused as to exactly what are should be used for the calculation though. Is it the total area of the House "Under Roof" (House, Porch, garage, lanai etc) OR is it only the areas above the air conditioned space? Thanks!

@@gafroofing Thank you for the info, but it really doesn't help me know which Attic space needs venting, or is it simply anything under a roof. Im still a bit confused.

I'm having a lot of trouble figuring out what the NFV should be here in Denver, any idea? Also, should intakes ideally be on multiple sides, two, one?

Can I use a SSB960 as intake near the bottom of the roof?
@gafroofing

SSB960 is an exhaust vent and should not be used as intake
