The most common thing we do during pre-production is throwing a bunch of ideas & then get stuck in a rut. I love the organization process of this video because it is a good blueprint for a video or in general aspects of projects. Thanks for the insights as always 🤙🏼

You are too good to us. I was running through my head about how I can implement these ideas into my planning and then you throw in that list of shots to get and feel like you have given me a gift. I have generally poor organization and I do struggle with it. Having specific, actionable tips is so helpful to me. Thank you so much Becki!

Former TV producer here. I once shot a 30min documentary on the construction of a new cruise ship. The wharf said „Come on this day, we‘ll be doing that one thing.“ I came that day with my camera crew and they said „Oh, the night shift crew was ahead of schedule, so we already did that one thing you`re here for.” Yeah, that day all my planning went out the window and a few select NSFW words laters, we shot something completely different - and the documentary came out great…

Theres so many things I can use to improve after watching this video. Right now it's only: Daydreaming about the video, sitting down and thinking of bullet points for broll shots, script making and finally recording a roll/b roll. I do prefer to "shoot for the edit" rather than oversaturate myself with possible footage ill never use.

Thanks for sharing the process with us! What I found super interesting is when I heard that Casey Neistat barely plans anything and says that the story happens in the edit. Surely much more suitable to vlog style content than a proper "film". I believe everyone has to find their own process - some of my best videos were shot and cut within a few days and had no planning. On the other hand you sit down for weeks to plan the perfect video and you are just not feeling it. Videos have a fun way of sometimes just "happening".
