Do you spend hours every week typing and writing out the perfect lesson plan for each of your students?
@denison_96
@denison_96 2 жыл бұрын
Exactly, yes! It's much better to spend more time with students than just preparing lessons, but having very little experience, I just teach how to convert it into the "20% of efforts give 80% of results" scheme)))

@@justteachmethod Dear Marry.I am at the beginning of my online teaching career, and I find lesson planning the most difficult part of it(for example I don't know how much new grammar should I put in a lesson or how much reading or how to give home work based on the lesson). is there a book or any resource that you suggest that would help me with this? or did teachers like you just developed this skill through experience?

Nice video!. I'm trying to go deeper into lesson planning and design, since in my TESOL training, the information was too short. I think you said something about warmers and coolers into a lesson, but that sounds to me more like fitness exercise schema, so how do you land this concepts while making a lesson?. Thanks!.
@justteachmethod
@justteachmethod 3 жыл бұрын
Haha yes, actually every time I tell my students we will start with a warm-up, they ask me if they need to run around the room or something similar lol But it is a very common term in the ESL industry and you can literally write "warm-up" in your lesson plan (if you ever need to write one). I use them as a way to get students into the English mood and make them disconnect from their personal problems (as students sometimes come to the lesson feeling stressed etc).. I would recommend you to watch this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/i6PJZH1ug5uGbrc and to follow me on Instagram (@teacher_littlemary), where I explain different ESL terms :) Thanks for commenting

Oh, that's an interesting comment, it is true that it's super hard for me to find the right volumen for the music, it takes me nothing to edit the video and ages to edit the music! Never know when it's ok as it sounds different on my different devices ahahhaha thank you, I'll pay more attention to it

I need your opinion... next school year I will have in the same classroom students from level A1 to C1 and it will me my first time teaching to a mixed class, you do suggest to speak only in English? My school is in Mexico, so I'm the ESL teacher, thank you so much for all your help with your videos!
@justteachmethod
@justteachmethod 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Maria, thank you for your support ❤️ yes, I do suggest you to speak in English only. Living in a non-native English speaking country, you will probably be their only "contact" with English, so I think it would be even a bit unfair if you didn't use your time to speak to them in the target language ❤️ 🤓 Anyway, you can't really prevent C1 students from translating stuff to their A1 classmates, as they will probably do it naturally... I'd just be careful with the activities chosen and the way you split them for group work as A1s can get a bit frustrated and C1s a bit demotivated if the activities don't suit their level 😊
