Cherohala Skyway beside the Tail but a lot of awesome roads in that area. Cabot Trail Cape Breton, for close to home.

Not counting any of the bike fest around I would say the Dragon also. I have ridden the SouthEast a lot but if I was to say "Let's go someplace this weekend" it would be the Dragon for certain. I can even ride 129 from Fla to Deals Gap. Also if you ever go to the Dragon again stay at this little two story hotel on the Tenn side . You come off the Dragon and ride west. Great little place, nicer and cheaper then Deals gap, although you can camp at Deals gap for $7 last time I was there

Well, honestly my favorite destination is my next destination. The Dragon, Cherahola Skyway, Foothills Parkway, and the Moonshine Highway (Tn Rt. 28) are pretty awesome. Nova Scotia was really great as well. Now the Super Cat is back in service so it'll make the trip up quicker. Maine's Arcadia National Park is very scenic. Of Course Rushmore to Crazy Horse on the Iron Mountain Pass is high on my list. This year we'll be headin back to the Dragon area for a familiar but fun adventure. My favorite ride is probably the Blue Ridge Parkway. 470 miles through Virginia and N. Carolina. Speed limit is only 45 mph, but honestly, it's worth slowing down a bit to take in all the fantastic scenery and the nice twisty road. It's not quite as hair raising as the Dragon, but a fantastic ride just the same.

Anywhere between Thunder Bay Ontario Canada out to the East Coast, usually crossing into Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. The Cabot Trail in Cape Breton is spectacular. Eastern Ontario has endless scenic roads and not overly busy. The Gaspe Pennisula in Quebec is awesome but have to watch for nasty weather.

There's a place in NorCal called Lost Coast. It's a bunch of old logging roads. It's one of my favorite rides. You can disappear into the wilderness, camp on the beach and be completely alone for days.

When we were out west we drove by the Mexican Hat, Monument Valley and through Delores canyon was a great cruise. Cut through Grand Canyon and Yosemite myself. Got pictures of shoe tree on the loneliest road in the continental US. Would love to go back out to Moab take the jeeps and dirt bikes. Hit the 5 national parks by trails by Moab and do some camping.

Finally bought a touring bike last year (flew to Nashville and rode it 1000 miles back to MN in two days... limited time available). This summer is 1st big trip.... central MN to eastern coast of WI..... ferry over Lake Michigan.... heading north to Sault Ste Marie (over Mackinac Bridge).... following Lake Superior's shoreline (mostly) heading west.... stopping at Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum and Duluth, MN..... then back to central MN. 5 days.... about 1400 miles (plus side runs). Wife and I going with one other couple. Crazy excited. I turn 53 next week and finally going to start living the dream instead of just spinning wheels (I'm a truck driver). My retirement will be filled with trips going to meet up with old army buddies.

In the US the entire Smoky Mountain region is my favorite destination. I hit the Dragon most trips, but it is Dar from my favorite route around there. Outside the US, I was lucky enough to tour the Alps while in the Army. The border region where Italy, Slovania, and Austria meet was awesome. It is also home to the annual September bike week around Faaker See lake.

Yellowstone/Grand Tetons trip I took in 2004 was my favorite bike trip, also hit Mt Rushmore and Devils Tower, I only had 2 weeks for trip and I live in NE Indiana so I had to use interstates most of the time to get there and have enough time to really enjoy, also spent time in Jackson Hole then down to Moab Utah then back I70 through Colorado, best trip ever, did grand canyon, Bryce and Zion parks and Bonneville salt flats the following year but Yellowstone still my favorite

Blue Ridge Parkway, 469 miles of beauty with history to be learned along the way. Next is Alaska, the Dalton HY north of Atigun Pass is my favorite. Riding on a gravel road with ice up to 2,000 feet thick underneath. Looking across the tundra for Musk Ox. I’m planning my third trip there and super excited thinking about it. Third would be most of our awesome National Parks followed by anywhere in Canada. Good drivers, super nice people and like the USA, so much beauty. Thanks for the content Tim.

If your in the Smokies, go to an area M/C shop. Most will have maps made for scenic rides,loops, and watering holes. Same goes for the Rockies, Ozarks, desert Southwest,and just about any area you happen to be in.

Corsica was my best tour, down through the French Alps and sailed from Nice over to Corsica. Then back up through Pisa in Italy, Austria and Germany on our way back to the UK.

Greetings from Brazil. Great tips! love your channel! Brazil also has more parks than one could visit in a life time, most with mountains, waterfalls, caves, cave paintings and camping. Normal people want to go to Rome, Paris or Disneyland while I want to visit waterfalls and go camping. I can easily see myself and my wife doing this until we can't due to old age. Excellent video. If you haven't already done it try riding from San Jose, CA via Mt. Hamilton Rd. heading East. It is 77 miles with over 1000 turns!. Stop have lunch in the valley and then go back for a completely different experience on the same road. Just east of the summit is an OHV park, and there is always the Observatories to see. In the summer the road can be very busy so I recommend riding it during the Spring or fall as wintertime can sometimes have snow.

My best trip on motorcycle was taking US 50 from Cincinnati, Oh to Pacifica, CA. Going through the Rockies on US-50 was spectacular. Of course the PCH was great too.

I love riding the Allegheny, Appalachian and Blue Ridge mountains. Rode the dragon first time in 1980, on a 1975 kZ 900. (No traffic back then). I live in Alabama only 200 miles from deals gap. A couple of riding buddy's and myself quiet often take a day trip over the Cherohala parkway thru the dragon and back home. After 45 years and around four hundred thousand miles(400,000) I still get a thrill every time I get on my bike. My favourite destination is wherever I get to safely.

I rode the dragon for first time back in 03 on my 1500 Goldwing, we rode the whole blue ridge parkway then stayed in pigeon Forge area for a week, great roads to ride

We live in Northern California, so of course Hwy 1 A.K.A. PCH. Over the last three years we have ridden four long distance trips, three of which were cross country (USA). Also, Cape Spear National Historic Park, south of St Johns Newfoundland. Easternmost point in North America. NF is such an awesome destination! The people are amazing!

Dragons tail is up there on my list, needles highway iorn mountain road in custer state park are always fun, pikes peak or anywhere in CO, bear tooth pass in wy is spectacular. going to Arkansas in a little over a month to the ozarks heard nothing but good riding there

Great video! I agree with everything and would include two additional items. 1) I get the old style state maps.It gives you an overview of where you are ,roads and different possible routes to destinations. Best are you usually from the actual state transportation department's. 2)the actual topography ie: flat versus hilly. Google maps makes that easy. My favourite ride is the Driftless area in Wisconsin,Iowa and Illinois. Average 4 trips each summer past 10 years. Thanks for great video and I subscribed.

Funny this pops up now....in the middle of prepping for my best and longest ride. The idaho BDR both directions. Southbound, then explore NV and the wild horse preserve, the. Ride back up the Idaho BDR. Will see if the same book is there again. Guess this time ill see yours and my note in the book it blue heaven. Getting excited for this epic ride. Should be close to 3000 miles of dirt roads snd about 150 pavement.

My current favorite is Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula three separate roads to Copper Harbor and one great views of Lake Superior, one Brockway Mt. Drive. and one a tunnel of trees. Great Side trip Ferry to Isle Royal Nat. Park. As far as planning camp or motels ahead some times it can be difficult to find an camp or motel during tourist season, I like National Forest Campsites Disperse Camping also I have found if the camp is full look for other motorcyclists to share there site. Note always offer to share costs or other do your share.

I recently made a trip from northwest Indiana to the Tail of the Dragon. My plan was to take 2 lane backroads down there as much as possible. Where I failed was in not allowing extra time, since I had given myself just 3 days to get down there, do the Tail, then get back home in time to go back to work. Two-lane backroads are awesome, but you have to be sure to allow yourself enough extra time to take the much slower scenic routes. Interstate highways are great for chewing up large amounts of mileage in the shortest time possible, but they are mind-numbingly boring in the process.

Another easy and common sense tip is to look for mountain ranges and roads that have a lot of kinks and squiggles. I did that with the latter on my trip through Mexico and it paid off in spades. Nice video. I added the Nat Geo books to my wish list on Amazon. I already own the first one you mentioned. Great to get the wanderlust going.

Tim Don't konw if you ever rode to the Canadian eastern provinces, lots of scenic roads many to mantion, but one of my favorites It's The Cabot Trail on Cape Breton Island, hope one day you can make it up there to ride it you won't be disappointed.

I've ridden "tail of the dragon" from NC into TN, and it's really cool, but, my most interesting ride to date has to be what's known as the "back of the dragon", or, Route 16 from Marion VA to Tazewell VA. This route is longer, 32 miles vice 11, has tons of turns, has better scenery and stretches of road where you can get out of 2nd gear, oh yeah, it's less crowded too.

Love riding in Arkansas dragons tail is amazing my tip is to avoid riding it on the weekend to many bikes and cars treating it like a racetrack I've ridden the tail in Arkansas but will be following it to Tennessee for the full route this coming week would like any info on good local food or something different like rattlesnake bear gator ect will be cooking most of my food but always interested in what the locals eat part of the fun of visiting differnt areas

There's a small town on the western peninsula of the Parc Naturel Régional d'Armorique (far west of Brittany) in France, called Crozon. We went there 2 years ago. As always, it's about the ride, not so much the destination, but that being said, Crozon is a lovely little town with really nice restaurants/bars/cafes (we were lucky enough to be staying next door to the patisserie - I mean, come on!). However, the park itself is just beautiful. Any road west will do, as long as you're going through it, but we took the D42 for the wiggly route. My head was on a permanent swivel for the vistas. Sublime. It's only the favourite SO FAR, mind... ;-)

very nice video! I too love the Michelin maps and follow the green roads. Lately I am using myrouteapp for designing my routes for the satnav, and it also has a Michelin map overlay! now its so easy to plan nice itenaries. Myrouteapp is a webbased planner, and also has an app for phone or tablet.

Hey up, all good tips, I agree on Beartooth but while you're there Chief George scenic byway from Cody to the park is awesome, not as extreme and as a result a more laid back ride! PS. I subbed! Take care pal, Mike from Ks. PPS, anywhere in Utah is nice.

If you can find your way to Passo Stelvio in Switzerland...and other passes in that Swiss, Italian and Austrian Alps area, you will never forget it. I love The Dragon and all the other very fun roads in NC as well. You want to get to Robbinsville via the Chereoah Skyway. It's about 70 miles long, I think, and I always try to catch it either on the way to the Dragon or on the way home. Last time, I stayed in a little motel in Robbinsville and a pal and I spent 5 days just doing loops out of there. I'm from Chicago area. Although our downtown is pretty cool, I can imagine it being slightly hostile to moto-visitors unfamiliar...Where to park? Is this neighborhood OK? Why is this guy trying to wash my windscreeen? My routine is to hoof it via interstate out of that area. I run interstate down to Indy, then turn left either to I-74 toward Cinncinnati or via Indiana Rt. 7 to Madison, IN, where there's a funky little bridge across the Ohio River into KY. Then it's twisties down to the Frankfort, KY area. Catch I-64 East past Lexington and take the parkway down to Natural Bridge State Park. It's a long ride, but it gets me out of the IL/IN over-developed prarie mindset. I've always been able to find a room around there at reasonable price and the state park lodge has good food. Get some sleep because from there to Robbinsville, NC and the Dragon is mostly the best twisty roads I've seen in the US. Bring a paper map and pick out some little towns that have nothing but twisty roads between you and them. I make a list of towns, then just punch them in GPS one after another. I never go exactly the same way twice. There are a LOT of tiny, curvy, well paved roads around Eastern KY, Western Virginia and NC. Just a great area to ride. The Dragon is extreme because it's so danged crooked, but it's also packed with tourists. Don't even bother on a holiday weekend. It's gridlock and can be dangerous. Hit it on a Wednesday. Go early and you'll have it nearly to yourself. I also like Rt. 28 (left at the intersection where the Dragon gas station/souvenier shop/motel/tree of shame is. My best riding pal quit his job bought a trailer and now lives in SC near Clemson. He knows some roads down there that knock my socks off. Happy trails! .

Got a euro trip planned....lol Furka pass, Stelvio is a gimme and Romania has this insane thing called the Transfăgărășean Highway. Thats my next trip next spring!

My favorite road(s); SE Ohio... Hocking hills area and 555. Why? Close to me..... And they are amazing.. I've been to the tail... Ohio 555 is a different kind of cool, and rather long.

I look for a lot of the same things you do in rides, water, National Parks and mountains. Really love the Avenue of the Giants and the Oregon coastline. I also love Hwy 93 north to Kalispell and the Going to the Sun Road. Then there are the roads in the Colorado Rockies. Yea, I can’t pick a favorite.

I know that's a real tough question, all of those are great spots though! Going to the Sun Road was pretty spectacular and PNW is all great too! I got to spend about a week in the Rockies this past summer, it was really impressive scenery, perfect for motorcycles! Thanks for the comment!
