In this video I explain what a bare root peony is and show you how to plant one. I am planting an Itoh Peony but normal herbaceous garden peonies are planted the same way. Thanks for watching!

Hello! Thank you for watching ☺️ wishing you beautiful blooms on your bartzella this year or the next!!

🏵I just bought a Bartzella for my mom and one for myself. They were pretty large as well like yours. I got 3 Bowl of Beauty peonies 🌺last year which were not as big. I may have to wait another year on those to bloom , but they will be worth it. 👩🌾

Ooo I’ve always loved the way bowl of beauty peonies look, but haven’t purchased one yet. Best wishes on your garden this year!

Thank you for your video. I live in central Germany and I only have a balcony but I plan to plant 4 different peonies' roots in large pots (not ideal...I can imagine...), could you please tell me how often I should water the roots during winter and before it sprouts leaves?
@thegrace-filledgarden8 ай бұрын
My understanding is that they need very little water during winter dormancy. Probably a light watering every few weeks if they are not receiving any snow or rain fall.

I have one but bloom about to open now actually! It can take several years for them to establish, so I look forward to next spring even more.

I bought 2 heads of Dr. Alexander Fleming Peony to try. Can you tell me how far apart should I plant them? TIA.
@thegrace-filledgarden Жыл бұрын
My understanding is that you should give them quite a bit of space between them as they can eventually grow fairly large. So about 3 feet or so.

Is that clay dirt you're planting the peony in? If so, does the soil need amending?
@thegrace-filledgarden Жыл бұрын
I did amend the soil with a little bit of compost, but my understanding is that peonies will tolerate a variety of soils as long as there are not prone to be sitting in water.

When is the best time to plant? I got a root in the beginning of June which I planted in a pot.
@thegrace-filledgardenАй бұрын
Fall or early spring is typically the best time to plant. Was your root already sprouted with eyes?
@RedsareRosesАй бұрын
@@thegrace-filledgarden No, it did not have any.
@PatemberTilley2 ай бұрын
My plant didn't have any of the pink blooms. Does that make a difference?
@thegrace-filledgarden2 ай бұрын
Do you mean the pink colored eyes on the root?
@alijohnson96703 ай бұрын
Ooh, I didn't soak mine before planting. Is that ok?
@thegrace-filledgarden3 ай бұрын
You should still be ok as long as your soil isn’t too dry :)
