I planted coconut variaties such hybrid Matag (about 20 years ago), SGG, Tacunan and Malaysia Dwarf (about 5 years ago) with success but never i dug that big hole like that. I plant just to cover a nut, and recently a friend of my who happened to supply coconut sapplings told me for faster growing, you need to burry only 3/4 of nut in the ground and you must trim off all roots before plant it.

Thanks for sharing, really helpful. I remember my grandfather using packets of salt and cow-dung compost during planting coconut trees and those were not the dwarf varieties, they grew really fast and started fruiting within 5 years. We would throw the vegetable peels around the coconut trees every now and then. Positioning is also a very important factor for optimum growth.

Thank you for your video. What would happen if you cut the main stem in half and joined it with another variety, also cutting the stem. Then tying the two stem with cycle tube . Keeping the leaves of both the plants. Just joining the two trunks. Also what would happened if you used MgSO4. Magnesium sulphide. This will make the inside od the coconut very thick. This is a high yielding variety which needs lots of nutrients for producing huge number of fruits. However , you may cut it to half Since coconut loves salty water as you can see sea shores are flooded with coconut trees salt is added. This is a regular farming process among the coconut growers

Dwarf coconut grows in 2-3 years and nuts are about baseball size. Regular Visayan Coconuts grows three times the size in 5-7 years. No money in drwarf, just decorative. You get 1 liter of coconut oil in 4-5 nuts.
