Dear Kim, Thank you so much for your videos. I have applied all your reminders in my garden and all has worked out great for me, especially the morning coffee walks. It saved me this week: On my first morning walk, I found a snake waiting for me in the bird bath next to my garden!!! Thankfully, hubby came to the rescue in time and killed it!! If I didn’t do the morning walk, I would have missed the snake and maybe later be bitten while working in the garden! Thank you so much. I wish I could show you pictures of the dead snake and my flourishing garden. Thank you Kim!!

I love this. What a great idea to have it all together. I might have missed it if you ever did a video about the drip irrigation system, but I am interested in how that is connected on the other end. Is there a timer? Does it hook to the faucet or does it need an entire pipe system?
@CaliKim295 жыл бұрын
Hi Rose, glad you enjoyed it. It IS very convenient (and fun) to have all the veggies in one place. Drip irrigation is definitely the way to go, it's easier to install than you think, saves time, gets the water to where it needs to go. Yes, I do have a timer, mine is hooked to a hose bib, but you can hook it to a sprinkler system as well. Hi Kim, I don't have any of the Smart Pots; but, did see some at our local BiMart. The largest size I saw was a 7 gallon size. I'm not sure if there were any raised bed ones. I used to really enjoy salsa as a chip dip and a veggie dip. But, as I've gotten older, I have not been able to tolerate hot salsa like I did when I was younger. If I wanted to customize a collection of seeds, which packets would you suggest that would not include hot peppers?
@CaliKim295 жыл бұрын
Hi Donna, Smart Pots are certainly are a great way to grow veggies - it's amazing how much can be grow in containers! CameraGuy doesn't like spicy salsa either. I've found the hungarian hot wax in the Salsa Seed Collection to be a medium heat and usually make one batch that is mild (with fewer of the hot peppers) and one batch that is hotter (with more of the hot peppers), as I like let spicier. All of my pepper collections at this time include at least one hot pepper. But perhaps in the future, I'll put together a sweet pepper collection and a hot pepper collection, stay tuned! Thanks for stopping by!

@wranther5 жыл бұрын
Kim, with a plant as healthy as that tomato, have you ever taken a similar plant and videoed the removal of the soil around the root structure? So very much stronger than conventional pots. Also, why is it when I try to plant in loose soil that the plants just up and die. However, when I notice the wilting effect and compress the soil around t he plant, life returns? -Bob... PS: Rain/Snow starting tonight now rather than Monday according to the afternoon weather update. Gotta love this global warming :)
@CaliKim295 жыл бұрын
Hello Bob, it would be a great comparison, root development of a tomato growing in a Smart Pots, and Good Dirt soil where the roots are able to breathe, and a tomato growing in a plastic container with heavy soil. Hmmm, not sure about your plant wilt issue, I haven't had that problem in this loose soil. Is your soil moist enough? Perhaps too many air pockets in the loose soil, maybe it needs that little bit of patting down to help the roots to get established. It's fun to try different things to see what works. Have a great weekend and thanks for watching!

I have everything but onions I thought it was best to grow them in the fall
@CaliKim295 жыл бұрын
Hello Chalindai - onions actually grow in a wide range of temperatures. Get them planted early in the spring or fall, the bulb develops best in temperatures between 50-75. Once the bulb starts to develop, they can withstand higher temperatures or frost. One reason why I love growing the bunching onions, is because they grow fast, and you can harvest them sooner when the bulbs are very small. Thanks for watching!
