You give a very wonderful tutorial for planting fig in small space gardens. I love seeing this as it has inspired me to plant my fig trees in ground. They have been in pots for about 5 yrs now. Hoping to keep it pruned, tight and cozy in a good spot. I am thinking while it was kept in pot it never grew taller then 4 feet so possibly it has stunted its growth a bit but looks like it really wants to spread out as soon as it goes in the ground so I will be pruning it regularly every few years.

Thank you so much! I’m thrilled to hear that the tutorial inspired you to plant your fig trees in the ground. Moving them out of pots and into the soil will definitely give them a chance to spread their roots and grow more vigorously. Since your fig trees have been in pots for about five years, they might have a bit of a growth spurt once they’re in the ground, but regular pruning will help keep them manageable and well-shaped for your space. Just be sure to give them a good spot with plenty of sun, and they’ll reward you with lots of delicious figs! Pruning every couple of years is a great plan-it’ll help control the size and encourage healthy growth. Plus, pruning can increase fruit production by allowing more sunlight to reach all parts of the tree. Enjoy planting them in the ground, and here’s to a bountiful fig harvest in your future! CK

1-2 inch bigger hole would be much better for the fig roots, since now they are also in a dirt pot firm all round... keep up with the videos.

I was wondering if I could use cedar shavings for mulch in the garden or not. Thanks for clarifying that. I thought I was going to be limited to using it in my clothes closet to deter moths or spreading it around the foundation of the house.

Yes you can, Emily! Cedar shavings can indeed be used as mulch in the garden, but there are a few considerations to keep in mind: Cedar naturally repels certain insects, like ants and moths, which can be beneficial in the garden. Like other mulches, cedar shavings help retain soil moisture, which can be a big help during hot, dry periods. Aim for a 2-3 inch layer. Too thick a layer can prevent water from reaching the soil, while too thin won’t provide adequate weed suppression or moisture retention. A layer of cedar mulch can effectively suppress weeds, keeping your garden beds tidy and reducing competition for nutrients.Aesthetic Appeal: Cedar mulch has a pleasant aroma and a nice appearance, which can enhance the look of your garden. Let me know how it goes!! As always, thank you for watching and being one of my top "heart" contributors - CK

I was never a big fig afficionado. But you're the second YT phenom to bring them up. So now I'm interested. I hope you do a fig collab with Lazy Dog Farm. That would be an epic fig fantasy.
