Hi Tube Friends! Just in time for the Eclipse on Monday, I found this amazing dark leaved hydrangea by First Editions, called the Eclipse! I've never seen anything like it! It's a dark purple big leaf hydrangea and I just had to have it....sooooo, I will have to make space for it. We all know what that is like, right?! I will be moving things around and planting up some annuals and tucking away a few more hostas in my garden. I love to hear about what's going on in your garden, so please leave me comments....and....don't forget to like and subscribe! Have a wonderful weekend and I hope you Enjoy! ~ Dawn

Hello ! I'm so glad I stopped by ! Inever knew Holly Tone was a thing for hydrangeas unfil I had lost 6 of the 7 Little Quiick Fires I started in my first time cottage garden . I was just so 💔. My strength, simple tools, and minimal $ left me so depleted after trying to improve very high ph, large invasive tree roots and trasportation. Faith kept me going .I have learned so much .Prayed for protection over my garden and enjoyed watching other perennials come to fruition* My hope is for someday to have a tall fence to keep those who remove my plants at will. Whoever dreamed we could have nieghbors like this to disrupt our peace ? My faith keeps me going and safe but, discouraged in this seaslon of my life at times when I can't move as fast through this as I once did . God's Grace & Mercy has shown upon me by strolling by your channel and seeing what Lamb's Ear looks like . Mine was gone before I could appreciate it's " softness " . Thank you ❤..

Hello Phillis, Wow ~ It sounds like you have had a lot of struggles in your garden, but your faith keeps your strong! Did I read it correctly that your neighbors steal your plants? I hope I am wrong because that is awful! I'll say prayers to uplift your spirits! I know the day will come when I can't move as well and I'll also be counting on you tube to live vicariously through other peoples gardens! Thank you for visiting with me today! ~ Dawn

Oh wow! That might be hard on a hydrangea! Just be prepared to dig it up and move it if it starts to struggle..

Good morning Dawn! 😊Lovely gardens…always enjoy seeing what you’re planting up next. I think those Eclipse Hydrangeas are possibly 50% off now at my local Lowe’s so looking forward to getting my hands on 2 of them & putting them in containers for now! What is the variety of those absolutely gorgeous clematis at mark 5:22? Where do you get your landscapers mix & what is it composed of? Also, do you use gypsum in your soil and if so, how effective has it been? Considering using some in my clay soil here in zone 7B Delaware.

Hi Jaisa, It's nice to hear from you! Thank you so much! That clematis is Dr. Ruppel...isn't it gorgeous! The landscaper's mix we usually get at a local supplier by the name of Living Earth. It's composed of compost, peat moss, pine mulch, sand/soil. We also buy it bagged at Lowes and Jemasco is our preferred brand. Yes, we use gypsum often and I highly recommend it. We have noticed a difference in our clay soils after years of amendments. It is most noticeable in our lawn, where that is the only amendment that we usually add, so we know for sure that it is the gypsum making the difference!

@@shadedfromreality Hi! Yesss…that Dr. Ruppel is everything! Will have to get my hands on one next Spring for sure. 👏🏼 Thanks so much for the info on the amendments you use. I have some gypsum. Now going to give it a shot. BTW…was able to land a 2 gal. Eclipse Bigleaf Hydrangea at Lowe’s yesterday for only $15…it was half off…so excited to get it planted! Have a great evening! 😉

We just moved into our home in Dec so I’m just getting started as a new gardener in my yard. I’m in The Colony. Do you have a video or suggestions for amending this clay soil?

Hi Dolores, How exciting:) Enjoy your new home! DFW soil is terrible, so it's great that you want to amend! You won't regret it. Here is a recent video on what we do and use in our yard. Thank you for watching! kzbin.info/www/bejne/j6PLqahrqMmAsLc

I just planted mine in an area that gets full sun from 9 am until about 4 pm. The label said it requires full sun… It was also in the same pot as the one you purchased from Home Depot. I wonder why your tag said it required shade?

Hi Alexandra, That is very strange and I am not sure what happened with that! Most, to all, hydrangeas can not take full sun. Even up north, they like some afternoon shade! I am not sure where you live, but it might be best to dig it up and move it to where it at least gets some afternoon shade. I would hate for you to lose it due to stress!

@@shadedfromreality I figured it was going to need a bit more shade than it was receiving. I live in Zone 7a in WV. I'll probably replant in a better location.
