I have been gardening for going on 40 years. I do exclusively tomatoes these days. I learn something new every time I watch one of Larry's videos. The grow bag system is the only way to go. I will convert to as it is feasible in my setup. The beauty is that the plant grows in a completely controlled soil environment and nutrients are not flushed out as they are in the old way. Grow bags will be great when I finally get my free-standing greenhouse.

Thanks Larry Hall. This is my first time watching your video on transplanting tomato in a grow bag. They are nice bags and good to share or sell to my friends at PMMA engage in farming and friends in the Philippines. I tried my best to spread a word or two of your work on RGGS and seems people are enthused about it. I told them to send their thanks, comments and support to your endeavor and future success of your online business. Kudos, Sir.

Thanks for another great video, Larry, keep up the good work brother. So what's the difference between "Potting Soil" and "Potting Mix", and why should you always use potting mix and not potting soil for tomatoes?
@omfug71489 жыл бұрын
It is essential that lime is added to tomatoes growing in any sort of container, I've learned that the hard way. Great video.
@larrylhall9 жыл бұрын
Yes or they can get blossom end rot!

***** I grew San Marzano last year and didn't add lime--even using he best store bought potting compost over half of the plants had blossom end rot--this year every pot got a cup of lime.

+Larry Hall would azomite rock dust be a good replacement for the lime and salt? thank, these videos have me wishing it was spring again lol.
@larrylhall9 жыл бұрын
You can add 1/2 cup but it would not release enough calcium to prevent blossom end rot! you need more calcium available to the plant!

Advantages of growth bag: 1) Made of environment friendly non woven fabric, allow roots breathable and healthier. 2) Booster better roots aeration and access to oxygen, resulting in a vigorous plant with more flowers and fruits. 3) No-strap water design prevent over watering of plants. 4) Keep roots warmer in winter and cooler in the summer 5) Sturdy handle straps easier transportation. 6) Decrease risk of transplant shock.

I really like this style of how to videos Larry! Excellent work! You mentioned lime stone... perhaps this is the same as garden lime or dolomite? Would a cup of either of these be acceptable?

Could a one gallon size grow bag be used for growing a tomato plant? Great video, love the tip about the magnesium! Thanks:)

Cheri Paxton no 1 gallon is too small you want to use a 5 gallon grow bag for patio type and 7 gallon or larger for others

I love your videos Larry. Thank you so much for sharing this amazing knowledge. I have never done this before and I am so excited to start this weekend (using kiddy pools). I have a question though, I have dolomite lime. It says it has magnesium in it but is it enough, or should I still add some epsom salt? Green Blessings Larry!

Brother these bags are too small but nice. Are they what less than a big bucket. I follow only some of Your fertilizer suggestion but the blue bucket is more my size. I use pots a bit smaller than that and these bags would dry out too much for me. I can only just start in Oct. in Australia,s South. Regular small feeding slowly does it for me in the growing stages.
